Unconventional Confusions!

We face confusion of all sorts...
In fact, when we say, 'there was a confusion all around the place'... we seem to assume utter clarity about it, obviating the need even, to see, whether we too are very much a part of it, by reason of the very mention about it!

This(blog) is not a 'convention' of confusions... please pardon me, if it 'seems' so...

It is about 'just a look' at a few 'not-so-common' confusions.. if, that 'unconventional' seems appropriate enough to describe it, which, you will be able to decide for yourself very soon..

Please, let not the size, the length of this blog , be a cause of confusion ... I have tried to divide the confusions into convenient parts... to let us choose, how we like to get confused...

1.We get confused about 'why at all something confuses others?'
2.We 'feel' confused, when the other 'sounds' so confusing about “such a non-issue” (the query is “what is there to be so confused?...”)...
4.We decide to get confused, 'just like the other' to be able to then ... grasp the joy-of-such-a-confusion (woh haseen dard de do.. jise mai galey laga loon'.... styled thus!)
5.We now get confused, not about how to resolve 'that' confusion... now, it is about 'how to get the hell out of all confusions'....

The last one (5) is good enough to warn me to stop here....
The rest of it(the source-of-my-inspiration!)... is a mere copy paste herein below,(except the sub-titles... the sub titles are to conventionalise it).

(I apologise, to the owners of blog and its comments, for assuming the liberty to reproduce the blog and the comments, though it is from an 'open' forum.... and I request them to 'find a way' to pardon me!)

unconventionally yours,
psn (13th August, 2013)

The source of my inspiration: (the comment about a blog, on the blog, to me)

Dear PSN sir, I have read your comments on this blog with utmost sincerity. I was confused on Seema's this blog! I put questions to Seema which are yet to be answered. However I have gone through other comments where Seema insisted to read your comments. Your comments in reply to to Nita are further confusing!. None of your comment in in context of Seema's blog, though your comments can be separate blogs with a new message! No where you have answered or elaborated what Seema wants to tell. You have refer to new stories with different context & different message.

I too find other commentators interpretation which were good but not at all connected to the title blog.

May be Seema is extra genious & put a blog which 'Adham's like us may not understand. First point is why such a blog which doesn't have a clear message which can be understood by any ordinary soul! Second while you are defending her blog why don't you dissect every line of her blog in elaborating real meaning instead of diverting to a new story & new explanation which was not even mentioned in her blog even indirectly!

I raise this question because I have read some of her very touching & insightful blog earlier! This blog some how reach no where neither your defending bring any clarity. I believe blogs must having quality read along with quality message.

I requested Seema to answer individually, also I request you to clarify how your comments connects the blog.

I am really bit different in my approach. I usually put questions when I don't reconcile with an opinion/blog. Please don't mind my straight questions! I never accept something till I made understood logically.
Regards!

The reference of the above comment, to his earlier comment:

I am little confused on the message of the blog. First if some one is a Guru, why his message is not understood by the 'Sishya!' Then when somebody leaves his wedding & the whole world displaying his devotion to his Guru, how can he be fluctuate for a lady forget about her shadow? Also what's the meaning of saying Guru that she was guarding the lady in the forest.

I believe when one becomes Guru he must have developed a perfect wave length along with his student in such a manner, that the student can understand the real message even from facial expression of his Guru.

What was the message of 'Be alert & its urgent' a Guru sends to his disciple during later's marriage.

You are definitely very genius as I read your blogs. Some how I couldn't get anything from this blog. I request for elaborating your message & bottom line. I am not convinced that faith & duality is presented through this blog. Regards!

My reply:
Just out of curiosity, I had a look at your 'updates'...
I read this: “If you really want to kill somebody, First kill the beast with in you!..”
...
I will not contest, about your understanding of this sentence...
But instead, we can try to look at an imaginary third person's mind, and look at the ways in which it would 'read' this message...
a) 'Oh... that beast in me, is the protector of that person whom I want to kill... So, like those fairy tales, where the life of a demon might reside inside the neck of some small bird in a cage, we cannot kill the demon, unless the neck of that bird is first squeezed?'
b) Oh! The beast in me, is what prevents me from taking the proper aim at that other fellow whom I want to kill?
c) I am a soldier, and I have to kill the enemy, to save my country... why should I waste my time, to bother about that beast in me.. Actually, that beast in me is likely to inspire me, motivate me, with that 'killer-instinct' without which, the enemy might exploit my 'otherwise-kind-hearted-sentiments' to plead with me to spare his life, and then, if I oblige the enemy, he would soon get hold of a weapon, and finish me off the very next moment!!!
...
and so on.... (other examples)...
Do we find any of the three totally agreeing with our own 'message' with that sentence? May be one might come a bit closer than the other, but that is of no use.. Either it is 100% or a zero...
...
I happened to admire the blog, the element of surprise it holds through an element of suspense or confusion, or even a lack of clarity about the 'message'... I did not wish to 'terminate' the effect of the blog too soon... and yet, I wished to add to its value by giving a 'subtle hint' which would polarise the minds of the readers further ... either towards a clarity(in which case, the very same hint would try to reach a further-deeper-theme), or.. towards a increasing a thirst , a curiosity, to look a bit deeper (when a reader finds a comment, which 'seems-to-have' appreciated the subtle-message!)
..
While at school, I told my classmates about the 'nature of mind' to become inquisitive without a specific goal... and to demonstrate it, I requested two to three of my friends to team up with me... it was that big-interval... the lunch time, and soon after lunch, kids would raise the dust of that playground to a height of about 5 feet, making it difficult for the 'elderly teachers' to cross over that ground without covering their nose with a hand kerchief, or without bumping into a kid running fast, to escape being caught by another 'chasing-kid'... We went to the centre of that ground, and I pointed a finger towards sky, straight upwards, stretching my hand maximum, twisting my body above hips to synchronise with the other boy standing beside, to help him 'see' what I was 'looking' at.. He and others 'obliged' me, staring intently at that something, with rapt attention.. we kept this drama for just 3 to 4 minutes... soon a crowd gathered, and the play stopped.. the 'play-ground' turned into an 'observatory' to look for extra-terrestrial heavenly objects! We quietly moved away to the edge of the ground, and now, we 4 of us were the only ones, looking at the crowd, while the whole crowd even forgot as to 'who started this game!'....
Sir, let not this story divert your attention or misguide you into believing that the theme of this blog is 'similarly-empty'...
This story was to demonstrate 'just what I told my friends' ... to show how inquisitiveness works, at times, without a goal, and wait for the discovery to tell us later as to what we were trying to look for!!!
...
I very much appreciate the genuine keenness with which you have asked for that clarity! I actually wonder as to why our Seema Ji did not excercise the privilege of explaining your doubts!

If I have reached the right one... that 'unanswered' comment, I suppose, these are the questions:

1. “why his message is not understood by the 'Sishya!'”
2. how can he be fluctuate for a lady
3. Guru that she was guarding the lady in the forest.
4. in such a manner, that the student can understand the real message even from facial expression of his Guru.
5. Be alert & its urgent

1. The message is to be understood by the intellect, not the mind, which is ever engaged into deciphering the data received through the input organs of 'sensing'.... (Abstract concepts are usually difficult to be understood or grasped in the very first instance! I had this problem... when the teacher said, 'watch your breath'... I thought it was 'so simple'... I started to 'see' that I was breathing... ! it was not quite easy! The breath got 'tampered' when I watch! When I am not observing, the pattern of breath is different! ... now I thought, 'I have to watch without the 'breath-watching-me'... ' that did not quite work!... One part of my mind started watching another part of my mind—watching the breath!... that is when the teacher added, 'be alert..!'.... When I tried that 'alertness' it only increased the complication! I had to let go everything and begin afresh... just breathe... then slowly coyly start watching it!... !!! the story went on...)
2. The 'fluctuation' for that lady is due to the age of that disciple, perhaps! Very soon after intensely reading or viewing a sensuous material, a student finds it difficult to focus on a dry school text book's chapter on geography which deals with the climate of arctic zone, or the grasslands, prairies and pampas of some far of continent! The initial excitement about the 'prospects' of a marriage is about the proximity and the pleasures it offers due to the proximity of the opposite gender... The message took him physically away from such prospects due-to-marriage, temporarily, but the mind is on the look out for it, at its own 'back-ground-music', so it fell a prey for what was 'readily available on the way'.. the way was to reach the hut of the Guru!
3. When we catch a cold, the body tries to sneeze of the virus with a powerful exhalation, a few times... when a few of such viruses stubbornly refuses to leave our chest, throat, and nose... the body generates an army of phlegm which now 'house-arrests' the virus, and keeps that virus under confinement, till it turns yellow, hard, solidified, and can be safely expelled as a 'lump'... the phlegm is not protecting the virus.. it is protecting us, by guarding that virus! And we take medicines, to get rid of that phlegm, since we look only a bit superficially, a bit symptomatically, and 'look' at the phlegm as a 'problem' instead of looking at it as a responsive-solution, automated by our wonderful human-design, our body!!!
4. communication is complete only when it is two way... the master's message depends upon the receptivity of the disciple... How can I understand a Chinese message, without knowing the language first? But a sincere Chinese friend would not wait to teach me the language first, when my life is in danger right now... He would supplement with gestures, ... but only when he is sure that articulations failed!
5. The message was kept brief, 'be alert ... it is urgent'... The excitement of the marriage (obvious, with any youth who is 'just about to get married') delays the 'attentiveness' a bit... so the second part 'urgent' got miscarried... he mistook 'urgent' as... 'urgently-see-me'... (where as the urgency is about being alert... because, marriage is a rare event... unless we are alert, how are we going to retain a “very detailed image of this event” to be cherished recalling it much later when we celebrate 50th anniversary of wedding?

All this is my imagination, after all...
Two people have to adjudicate... at least... the author, 'Respected Seema Ji', and the asker, 'Your Good selves'

Regards,
psn

Now, the very source of the blog, its confusing story!

A man was getting married. Just then he received a message on a paper. It was from his guru who had written, ''Be alert, it's urgent'. The man left the ceremonies midway. The bride was bewildered, her parents pleaded with him to complete the ceremonies but he ran out. He had to cross the dense forest and it became dark. The groom decided to wait on this side of the forest. Night came and he wondered what could be the urgent matter of the Master. He was satisfied that he had thrown the world to one side for the Master.

From nowhere came the sound of anklets, songs and laughter. He noticed a light and followed it. A large tent in the middle of nowhere had sprung up and men were waiting outside cracking jokes. The guard stopped him saying, 'Madam is not ready'. The man saw shadow of a lady dressing up and wearing ornaments. What beauty! He pleaded with the guard to let him enter but the guard would not budge. Madam is eating, madam is rehearsing her steps, madam is with musicians, madam is talking to someone, madam is having a nap'. The excuses went on and it was soon dawn. With a heavy step he looked at the guard killingly and reluctantly continued with his journey contemplating that he would stop at the tent on return journey. He reached the Master's hut but the Master was sleeping.

'You are still sleeping', he exclaimed, 'I left my wedding, I ran from the weeping relatives, I waited near the forest, I remained awake the whole night because of your message and you are sleeping'.

The guru looked at his student disappointingly and said, 'Dear child, I was awake the whole night, guarding that woman's palace in the forest'.

Be a little in-disciplined!

Quite contrary to the 'popular sense'...
By itself, “Discipline” does not give any 'value addition' in terms of a special qualification! A disciplined person is something special, other than a non-disciplined person, or so...
Students(children), often get into its wrong sense and thereby miss the 'real-benefits' of a discipline!
Discipline and obedience” get clubbed together.. and it suits the elders (teachers especially, when it is the sheer number game that they have to mange to 'prove their own merit'... ! )
...
Even at work place, 'disciplinary proceedings are initiated against a 'delinquent' employee!'
While some 'heavy' benefit is to be given, a 'clean-chit' is needed to certify that no 'disciplinary action is pending, initiated or contemplated'... ! (They did not spare the word 'contemplation' which is often the domain of only strict disciplines like philosophy, metaphysics etc!)...

I do not intend to quarrel with the world, for using 'discipline' to discipline everybody else other than themselves! (For instance, the movie “Soldier” focuses on discipline that affords the 'Master' to have-it-their-way... till the hero learns the 'discipline' of emotions, the hard way!... But an army can do things only through 'obedience in-a-disciplined-way!'.. so no quarrel about it... Only that we can 'also-afford' to take an indisciplined-look at it, and see if it serves any spiritual-discipline!)

But, when some body is eager to know ... why at all 'get entangled (quantum-ly) with that discipline?'... the 'secret'... the question and the asker's mind, ... it made me, it tempted me, to guess... perhaps, this some'body' is keen to discover the some'being'ness within oneself, and therefore asking a very common question, in a little uncommon way!
Quote:

What makes a person disciplined?

What is the secret behind being disciplined?
Unquote:

I did not first look at the meaning of the word, through a 'strict' sense of discipline, the way science is looked at as a 'discipline'...
I just looked at it the way I looked it practically...
(the first 'looking' was for looking-out-for-the-answer... the second 'look' was at the way I looked at 'looking' itself, when it was discipline... I know, it may seem confusing... but even that “looking” is a discipline... which, once mastered ... does not allow other masters to master over us the way a master 'dictates' a disciplines others, merely for obedience sake, to make that masters life comfortable!)...
Perception is perhaps a 'discipline' that that the science of spirituality draws attention towards a conscious, concerted focus, so that ... such that.. no other discipline is needed to be focused upon, for the sake of it!...
The answer that came out of the un-disciplined mind of mine (but in-to discipline on a need basis) :

quote:
When the defects/disadvantages of an in-disciplined life-style comes too much in the way !
Other wise, mere sermons-listening is a good pastime.. why bother with 'needless-restrictions' when life happens the way we like!
Now, somebody suddenly takes a liking to 'feel' how it would be on Moon! The discipline starts... health fitness to withstand a space travel, the ability to walk carefully at 1/6th of gravity, ability to conserve even breathing air (tension increases breathing, and depletes oxygen!!!)...
...
A surgeon who is going to sew up a nerve of brain which is thinner than a hair (seen only thro' microscope), without blocking the passage of blood through that nerve, has to ...
has to... 'discipline' by abstaining even a cup of 'coffee' , one week ahead of the operation... the tiny hand shake due to 'caffeine' needs such a discipline!
...
Suppose my doctor says, you will live only one more day... why waste time trying to have discipline! Enjoy!

And,
I was surprised when I saw a small reference to the latin word... learner/disciple!!!
quote
Disciple comes from a Latin word meaning "learner" and discipline comes from one meaning "instruction, knowledge." (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/discipline )

Thus, ... discipline is perhaps, a much more serious business than all other kinds of strictness that the popular sense of the word seems to impose upon us... when it comes to being a 'disciple' of spirituality!!!

Indisciplined yours,

Tricky Tricks!

Yes, it is about the tricks that we gently try to disengage ourselves from, when everything else with these tricks fail, on our way to spirituality!

Funny bets, kids engage into, even at school age.. 'Hey can you manage to wear chappal tomorrow!' .. Done!... Red ink (fountain pen days..)... a little gum (khushi is what we have in abudance, at that age... so Gum is to be hunted!P... a tight fat bandage around the big toe (better visibility like the neon sign ... not like those inconspicous 'one-way-please' road signs!)

Joint families used to be fertile grounds for 'tricks' to sprout in kids!... My dad, told me this story... The eldest brother of my grandfather was incharge of kids... So, obviously, any 'good-trick' is going to be bad on him first! The bet was, 'Hey can you smoke a beedi in his presence?' Why not?... but not for free! Okay, the 4-anna-bit that they thrust into each kid's hand, on the Vishu day (that was the only attraction for kids about that Kerala festival!)... They obviously got half-a bundle (that is the least you get for whole-sale price, of that of a bundle!) of beedi... The bet was just about a couple of puffs! Why squander that whole-hole-wala-coin ?... Wait!... See whacha I gonna do!... They went to the cow shed (milk was only from cows... not bottles, packets, doodwala or the non-existant cold-storage bins... Yep, that is how(perhaps/maybe/etc.. please do not quarrel about stats now!) the earliest fridge had got born... to preserve a corpse!... They caught hold of the cow's kid (innocent ones are safe always), planted a couple of ants into its nostrils, and it made noise... Before that noise died down, they hurriedly summoned the 'Anna' (that's how the eldest was called by rest of the elders, so copy-paste...)... He got worried, and said, it has caught a 'cold'... What to do...?... Before anybody could even blink (not just think)... the bet-wala-candidate, said, 'Send a couple of beedi puffs into its nose... it works... so-and-so said! (In those days, even humans had to depend only on 'first-aid' that was usually the last of medical aid too... what to speak of Veterinary docs!.... And then... (its your guess! Ah yes... the trickster offered to other kids “Hey, I am unable to do it all alone, why don't you all help me! Here are a few more beedis... fortunately...” (That was an 'insurance' and the 4 anna bits the earnest-money-deposit, with performance guarantee!)...

We grew up thus!

Now, the ear-plugs work like a 'Do-Not-Disturb-me' sign... a trick that works... Worse, the bus conductor transfers that 'left over of unkindness' to idiots like me, who keeps gaping at him with a 'next me?' , clutching the 'exact' change of bus fare, with the firmness enough to keep a fatty from swaying along with the side-jerks of a bus!

At office, an officer ('above' me of course...) ensured that the large table was kept full (the desk top.. like the techies do now on the monitor!)... it kept any untoward flies away (Oh!.. sorry... I meant 'Files'...)... The few urgent papers usually took its time, even to get signed! Tired of this, my equal-rank-colleagues turned up to me and confessed, 'Howda get it dunnYar!'... 'Elementary dear watson... 'I said' .. Keep the things to be signed just below where he rests his right elbow! Notice it?... that's the only 'reserved-parking-slot' for his elbows... He sleeps only that way, after a heavy lunch... I got it done that way... watch out the 'left-out' areas of other's tricks!

That's it.. the left out areas ... are the only hope, where spiritual teachers manage to use the 'element of surprise'... when people flock at them for 'liberation from tricks'!!! And then Yoga! *(Patanjali ki Jai!)..

Tricks.. we ought to know all-of-them... chiefly of two kinds.... 1)We should not use, and 2)We cannot use... (the second one is what these tricks ... tricks us into, in trickles, of course, where no bucket ever really fills in!

Writing blogs at a frenzy pace is never going to work as a trick!... Only the stuff that worked for us, comes out as ... 'of some use to others'... not those which tricked us into it... And if we are not so harmonious a singer, singing aloud is not a good trick... Then why not sing into the ears of others (that's what a few pm's are doing!)... not going to work either!... Being tired of other garbage, we try a little spiritual garbage, keeping it in our head all the time, as 'lotta-data'... not gonna work!... Anyway, .. even I am not too sure about it... there is a prize money... that's for sure, not yet a trick!.. I ain't no good-at-it anyway!

Trickishly yours,
psn (2nd August, 2013)

Tail-piece-trick: (yep! That's actually how it is... the last of tricks, is to drop the desire for 'attaining'... and desire for 'dropping of the desire'... so much that ... you forgot the tricky part of it, and now go-to-seek a Guru to untie it... the trick!)... The Houdini-trick.. Heck! .. the Houdini-act it is... the vanishing trick... that works, when nothing else does.. until we recreate ourselves with a fresh set of tricks! Did I say 're-create'? Dunno! I got tricked my self... this time only!
(sorry, for that bit-bite-trick.. It shouddaBean-a-bye-bye-trick...!.. or a buy-my-trick... dunno!)
again,

The First Born!

Even a team gets a bit sentimental, at times, and chooses to sponsor a question that belongs to a collective mind!

That is how it must have happened that a logic defying incident shot up to prominence and evoked a great interest to know, the 'know-why' of certain mystic sentiments! Biologically, a child-birth is just another nature-assisted phenomenon... and it is not an unfamiliar event... What mystifies is, when an accomplished person, or an achiever (whichever way we choose to look at that person!), gives in to a 'strange-looking' emotional excitement, which is logic defying in itself, and it even persuades another very-sanely-logical, practical, and pertinent priority,.. then it is 'attention-grabbing' indeed!

My attentiveness was towards the attention of others, which might have got focused into a singularly-pointed way, at least for a while! A reason good enough, for me to budge in!

It was about the importance of a first born!

And now let the question-answer speak for itself!

Firstly yours,
psn (30th July, 2013)

How important is the birth of your first child?
It was very important to Hunter Mahan! Mahan was leading the Canadian Open when he learned his pregnant wife, who was a month away from her due date, had gone into labor early. He exited the tournament and sacrificed 1 million dollars. What do you think?

Article: http://yhoo.it/16vQNRx

My (first-take on it) Answer:

Well, the importance cannot be better evidenced than with the existence of a time tested set of rituals that has come down through several generations from ancient India!
Right from the sixth month, when a noble wandering soul is invited into the womb, offering the best all round care, right up to the 'pass word' being invoked and a temporary access being given to the person who represents the departed ancestor, that ancestor who looked forward to the birth of this first child, who holds the 'pass word.... the whole process connects us, the human beings, with everything relevant to our future and past, thereby, scripts the whole process of life on this planet!!!
...
The question details thus.. "He exited the tournament and sacrificed 1 million dollars"... I would add, and thus, in turn, "he inherited a priceless experience of togetherness of a whole new being, celestially excited at the prospects of eternal togetherness!"......
...
Human being is capable of volitional consciousness... and therefore , by choice is capable of giving the highest values possible to yet another life form... please look at this when other life form devours a few of its first born/s for its own survival purpose, though the basic instinct is very much 'the' very essential component of nature's design for preservation and propagation of the species!....
....
Core aspects of life can be understood only when a person transcends logic, and yet adheres to the sense of discretion, to judiciously apply the power of reasoning!
..
Science has probed (and almost proved) that the entire photograph of the planet is carried over generations through genes inherited... that makes the first born a very precious latest model of the rarest antiques (a unique two-in-one!!!)

What next?

I knew this question as early as my earliest memory can reach! That was my question too, when a kid... and precisely why I could provide a clue, when somebody told me, pointing to his mischievous kid, 'Look at that rascal, his stare ... so innocent-looking, blank-looking... is in fact, a warning, he is up to something afresh, just the 'commercial-break' he is affording us, with his own search for “what next”...!!!..' I provided a clue, 'Oh! Then, just make sure there is nothing-next-to-him that will provide THE next thing to do something with...' 'Roger', he agreed, and gently did that reverse-theorem of 'presto!' (not just a converse theory), and one by one, the breakables disappeared from that kid's reach!

I retired abruptly.... the question 'cropped' up... what next!
Oh! the question is as old as me... I told myself... (So, why not look at how others deal with their 'next'.... be it a nagging spouse even?... and, now... I did not have to seek my own 'next' for the next several 'period-of-time'!!!.... not even the next blog.... it has to be 'allowed' to happen by itself... what ever makes it happen!)

Kid age, what next (mischief)
school age ... what next (books, painfully long period going through the very same books, then exaams, the results, the promotion, ... after a few repetitions, the question finds its own answers!)..

meanwhile, in the gaps of time during the 'school-debacle', that is... small spaces of 'what next' searches... that was decades ago... now the kids are loaded with enough homework, tv-work, gadget-fiddling-work, etc... so much that.... they hardly look up to the closed lid to ask 'what next' to find any new dish being dished out of that dish and served 'dishoom' on to the dinner plate! Most of it is off-the-shelf... or still worse... that cold-hearted-fridge, looking so vengence-fully, when the hunger seeks a 'matching' temperature of food! (That is why, perhaps, the ancient query, 'can she cook well' is outdated during match-making now!... all we need is good cookers, not just a good-cook!)... anyway, that is not the-next on our agenda right now!

Marriage/job/kids/home-loan, home/ par-motion(promotion)... each suffixed by 'what next' leads sequentially to 'the' next...!!! These are serious 'nexts' nested badly around us... but life is not entirely without humor... For instance, a colleague of mine, eager to try it out in Engleesh, his usual query (mere leye agla kaam kya hai?), blurted thus: 'What is next... to me?'... Inadvertently I replied without a thought or batting-of-eye-lid, “Bhooth!”... He got scared, while others had a hearty laugh (it was just the preceding day that I narrated my adventures to the, during my preceding few days, pursuing occult-kinda-people ... being a genuine and single bachelor, I had lot of leisure on non-working-days, to hunt for 'anything that has anything to do with spirituality'... and occult people seemed to offer it 'off-the-shelf' ... till I saw the point that there was 'nothing more in it'!!!_ than some materialistic-oriented-powers!... I was after nothing-less, than the nothing-more-than something, already!)

At times, 'who next' scares us... The who is 'next to me' does matter in some cases...

It goes on... perhaps, till we are next-to-nothing! And if we decide further again, the very same way, yet another something-next is already in the offing! ( I dunno! If it was the one thing that kept me so busy, that other trifles of 'what nexts'' did not really bother me too much, and took off the mischief in me, when the elders around 'found' my inconspicousness to be a heavily felt absence during my youth days, when my search within kept me away from that 'what next' for too long-a-while... ).... and after all.... now that I find myself next-to-nothing... there is really nothing-next-to-me... to boggle me with 'what next'!!! That is about the mystic-nothingness!
(somebody gave me a puzzle, while at school... it was a copy-by-heart... but quite a good starter for 'what-next'... he said, use the same word to fill in all the three sentences... 1) dash is greater than God, 2)dash is worse than devil and 3) if we eat dash, we will die!... I did not 'dash' my head for too long... I said, it means to me 'nothing'... other kids wondered, when the asker applauded!... That was how nothing-next-to-me befriended me right from the kid age!)

what next, yours (is the turn!)

Dreamy State!

Which state do you belong to?” is a question that I faced quite often, while at north.. My accent usually got adopted to the place in a reasonably brief time... and therefore the doubt... (they 'feel' that the name, the deeper aspects like choice of words etc do not rhyme with the apparent accent.... and yet this adapted accent is good enough to camouflage the origin of state, or the state of origin... which ever way it is!!!)... This is one of the 'tough' questions, that I really never learnt to answer well!... Demographic details do not support my way-of-being adequately enough to furnish the facts (facts do not sustain THE truth that they 'seem to comprehend'!!!)... the facts are too simple.. born in a village where the parents hail from... just born there... migrated to grow where the livelihood of parents takes them... further 'state' at a state where the higher-educations is stated, not taught, by 'stately' teachers pampered into such stately-states, by the system, which is merely certificate-oriented, not 'Oops' like (Objective oriented, purpose supported)... And then I stand on my-own-two-legs, to state that now I am in a state of my own stability or... a stability of my own.. etc.. Yes! I lived through such confusions, so I am eligible to say it thus, a bit confusingly!

Out-of-world state! That is what appealed to me when this question came up!
Something that got related with my own states-of-being... despite the demographic states trying to rivet me somewhere or other!

Let us go to that question... I do not know if the answer 'states' anything worth while to the asker's state of being! But who knows... my answer might address the state of yet others, here who are unable to state their own state!

Psn (19th July, 2013)

The question:

Why i always remain in dreamy state, how to control it?
I always remain in fantasy world made in my head rather than real world. Since childhood i'm always like this only. Don't know why??? My friends says that PISCEANS always remain in dreamy state. But i don't believe in them as i think that how can a zodiac sign will control my traits?? Whenever any events takes place ultimately i start making it perfect in my fantasy world, even while walking or going to classes i dream a lot. I don't know how to control it because of it i'm getting lazy day by day as i always remain in my own world,i don't feel like doing anything, just keeping myself in that world. How can i control it?? It is over-ruling me. How do zodiac sign affect this?
Yeah I'm a PISCEAN girl.

My reply:

Probably, the use of the words 'dreamy state' is persuaded by that 'dream like state' where we are aware that we are dreaming, yet something 'seems' to prevent us from getting hooked on to the 'outside situation' ... that situation, which is logically better defined as 'ground-realities' (only when we call it as 'ground realities', we also find the simultaneous urgency to get-related to it, for the purpose of behaving cohesively towards furtherance of life... towards self-preservation, survival etc... the enhanced levels of this self-preservation/survival is 'becoming something worth-while in life'!!! That dreamy state seems to fulfill no worthwhile purpose (to satisfy logic!)... If all this is reasonable, the question 'how can I control it' becomes all the more relevant!
...
Good to think of becoming 'intune' with life-realities... But.. why should it prevent us from taking a look at the 'phenomenon' that is happening 'while we are in that state--the dreamy state'? If the reasons that we are likely to discover,, while trying to take a look at it, is significant enough to the very purpose of life (!!!)... how about the proposition?
...
Please see, if we are aware of 'ourselves being in that dreamy state' while we are in that state... This is the test... (if the answer is no, the whole purpose of looking at it is superfluous, and even redundant!)...
If yes.... then there is some significance... What we call as our body....
Wait.... let us make ourselves a bit more sure.... We are quite familiar with those sleep-dreams, where we are right inside the dream,... deep enough... to be deprived of that awareness that we are inside the dream.. or that 'hey! it is just a dream... don't take it too seriously! that fellow trying to kill you, (in the dream) is your own creation, while dreaming, and the dreamer, the 'you' is as safe as anything, since it is just a dream!!!"
...
Now back to 'what we call as our body'.... the moment we say thus, we are aware, the body is ours, and we are not THE body... (We say 'why do you step on me?' when in a crowded bus, some high heel steps on our tender toe... later, we narrate the story saying, ' somebody stepped on MY toe... ' (not me!... and so on...)... Similarly, 'my mind was confused'... is slightly indicative of 'our' freedom, when we also say, 'I am confused'...
The distinction between 'dreamy state' and the 'cohesive imagination' is that we have no control over the thought contents of that dreamy-state, while we(our our ambitions, desires, fears, anger, jealousy... etc... negative/positive/whatever...) drive the thoughts during imagination.... Clearly, there is somewhere the observer, the "we" which is indeed elusive (and that is precisely why this question)... and the dream-state! (I am tempted to answer thus, because, there is a mention "Since childhood I'm always like this only. Don't know why???'.... three question-mark symbols!!!... the innocence about this question is a bit obvious!)...
Now please take a look at the 'known descriptions' of meditative states!.... and decide for yourself!
...
Welcome (if it appeals)... into the world of spirituality!
Best wishes, and respectful regards,
spiritualseeker!

Lean for Learn!

An interesting question was inadvertently mis-spelt.
The asker was artistic enough to let the error remain while acknowledging the same in additional details.
All this and the question itself amused me.
The question however raises deep enough questions!
At times we wonder, what do we get spending our precious life time amidst a particular type of people, just by
virtue of our livelihood!
Almost like a doctor, spending the bulk of his time amidst 'sick' people, A psychiatrist amidst.... (well you know).
etc.
What do we learn or gain to lean so much upon it?
Psn (29 september, 2009)

quote:

How often do you lean something new from answers...?
... to your questions? hmmm... to answers to others questions also.
Additional Details
opps: LEARN (darn, did it again)

My lean/inclination (that is, the answer)

Only when we are inclined to lean that we do learn.
Else it is just 'darn' (the patch work that tailors do to a 'worn' clothing!).
See, even at word play, it is worth it!
And then, we lean upon what we mean by learning.
That again would lean upon how we learn the how to learn!
Potential is what the Japanese recruiters tend to lean upon of late!
Here too, that potential keeps the learning curve leaning towards something new in the answers!

Repetitiveness!

Even repetitiousness means the 'same'... !

Even the 'talk' about the need to change ourselves, fatigues the mind, when repeated too often!
(At least why don't they change the way it is told! The way we count the change (small coins) doesn't change, for instance... and they keep repeating that 'change' is permanent..... no, it is in short supply always!)

If we try to list out the things we do not mind being repeated, it is going to be a very brief one, and it contains those items, which seldom get repeated!

When we feel inclined to become a little devotional (just to try it out and see how it feels,) the typical lines of a bhajan tires us out too soon, with its endless repetitions and we wonder, how those dedicated devotees manage it!

Colours of dress were repetitious until recently! Printed designs brought some cheer, but only for a short while... the bulk of varieties at a cloth store has brought a unique kind of 'repeat-fatigue'... the previous experience of wading through too many of varieties seems to remind us of a 'repeat-of-same-exercise' in the offing(not the availability of varieties... the thought of 'having to go through the tedious task of going through so many varieties yet again!... The sales person looks repetitiously-cheerful each time we visit!!!)

Oh! Life seems a repetition already, with even the 'talk' ... about rebirth cycles!

And our blogs?... Sermons, advises, suggestions, reminders...?

Somewhere, the mind ... our mind it is... holds us in a grip of indecisiveness, when it disallows a choice to us, to look at things afresh! And it is the 'repetition of this indecisiveness' that evades notice ... otherwise, we would have been wise! The person is wise, not the mind... mind you! And when a person is wise, it is the mind that gets noticed as a 'beautiful mind'!!! (Does it sound more familiar, when we say 'wise-mind'... or a 'wise person'...)...

Please see... when we just look around... the eye pauses, the moment it notices something that does not match with our memory.. (kids keep asking, 'what is that?' too often... their database is yet to find something similar within it, when they see it on the outside... We all are.... somewhere within us... performing a 'de-duplication' task with our processor at an incredible speed! Only that some of us are fond of tiring others with the verbalising of the results, with a repetitious dialogue of 'I know it..'... And, even if the articulation of it is at a speed, we are fond of listening to the repetition, like... when that humble 'server/waiter' at a medium-cost-hotel, who repeats the list of 'hot-dishes' at a great speed!

At my school, we kids used the word 'repeat' even to ask a fellow to beat/hit his victim yet again! 'Peett' in Hindi, is a slang to mean 'smash-hit' him... Re-peet... was simply re-do it... re-smother him... (The reason, why this funny way of coining it came about was... one of our teachers was fond of asking us to 'repeat' the homework 7, 14, 21, 70 .. etc times, yes.. it was multiples of 7 and to this day, none of us know why it was so!... We all felt the re-peat so intensely that we would have preferred some beating/'peeting' instead! Or.. maybe the joke got into our head... 'kal' is tomorrow... what is parsoen?... and we were told, 'tomorrow ke upar aur ek maro'! )... Kids almost hate doing things they dislike, again and again... But if they like something, they argue, that the previous repetition was 'yesterday'... not today! Good movies, we proudly declare having seen the nth time!
Spirituality, when it engulfs us, after those tedious repetitive practices of tools and techniques, releases us from the concept of repetition itself... for... “we” already are much-much 'earlier'... than all concepts!

Repetitively yours,

Dog-eat-dog Versus Spirituality!

It is difficult for a spiritual seeker to 'manage' in a dog-eat-dog world!
....

Objectivist philosophy comes at least half way! It allows healthy competition!

Spiritual path defies logic, even in this arena!

Somewhere, the healthy discussions on a spiritual forum tends to end up deploying that 'dog-eat-dog' concept, be-fooling even the most well-meaning-minds, inadvertently, unconsciously, egoistically, etc... etc...

I was wondering.. A dog symbolizes loyalty(!), Faithfulness(!), and such noble attributes... and then why this dog-eat-dog?

Does not matter... if it seems good that way.... let us not have a dog-fight over it... be it so!

How to now manage... this spiritual business and the survival within dog-eat-dog world?

Only brilliant people can give logically-convincing solutions!

I just got absorbed into spirituality so much that ..... when I see that competition is now inevitable, and it is only doggedness that is going to dominate, I wag my tail a little, wrap up the tail now and quietly leave! It is sheer 'grace' that I managed survival this far even! (Incidentally here, on spiritual path ... converse theorem works too well! I even came across a wonderful Teacher who said, to the class... “Those who are seeking comfort-oriented-blessings, please go elsewhere... the world is now full of such 'Gurus' who give guaranteed results for a small fee even! My blessings would be... 'Let everything that can ever happen to a human being, also happen to THIS disciple of mine!'... In spite of it, if you are alive, you have won! Richer by experience! If you are gone... then it is again won... no more problems, with material life!”

....
Even at material aspect of life.... only human beings can see... out of their sense of discretion, that it makes 'sense' to let sensible people live a bit more comfortably! That is how, Kings used to patronize artists, craftsmen, teachers and above all spiritually oriented people as teachers!!! It is the intrinsic value for something precious in a human being, which, when we recognize  persuades us to leave competition out of their way, paving way for only humility... and through humility, our own receptivity!

Receptively yours,

Decriminalising

It was amazing to look at the concept of 'decriminalising'...!

I was reminded of 'jurisprudence' a subject in which I happened to score good marks, and needlessly became a 'criminal' in the view of my fellow classmates, while 'doing' my law! My classmates were keen to become professionals, while I was just having fun, learning law!

The concept of equity, must have occurred to those who decided to relook at:
Indian Lunacy act, 1912
Mental health act 1987 and 1997....

They had sought to broaden the perspective when the Mental health care bill was under consideration!

Sec 309 of IPC was sought to be disengaged from its applicability, while rewiring the connectivity to mental health care!...
What was intriguing was, ECT (electro convulsive therapy) was being re-considered with an anesthesia! Or.. some drugs that treat schizophrenia and depression! This, despite the fact that during the last 10 years, anesthesia was not used (not even adequate number of specialists available, may be that is why)... that shock treatment without it!
...

For spiritual discussion, it is interesting to look at the concepts of Jurisprudence involved....
Whether the psychiatrists are available to equip themselves with principles of equity, consequences of commission-omission, contributory negligence, and ... if it is not too much to ask for, the ancient karma theory!

....
I was fascinated by the concept of “decriminalising”.... At home, office, where interpersonal relationships are based on 'renewable-judgment-scheme' also... and more so within ourselves, though a bit rare.... are we available to 'decriminalising' our labels of branding a few attitudes, of ours and our close ones, akin to criminal-like-outlooks? Only then, can we deepen our acceptance way beyond tolerance, forbearance etc!!! That humble story of a saintly person who explained as to why he was insisting on saving a scorpion from getting drowned again and again, when it stung his palm each time, 'It is the nature of a scorpion to sting, and so also, it is in my nature to save it!'

More or less!

We hear this phrase quite often... 'More or less' satisfied with something!....
A fuzzy logic!
I had heard that when Japanese people attempted to further innovate 'accurate' washing of clothes with the automatic washing machine, they deployed a new concept of 'fuzzy-logic'..! Thus the machines started washing clothes a bit more 'thoroughly'!!!

Our mind is sometimes caught in a fix... Whether to settle for contentment, or to strive for more!

This Japanese washing machine seemed to be better than me... it rinses the cloth which is unusually soiled, but does not overdo it so as to tear off or weaken the fibre too badly as to render it useless to wear! So, I am humiliated by that stupid washing machine, when it comes to using a via-media fuzzy logic even! How sad, I thought of myself for a while !

And, when it comes to 'doing something' worth while... ('Naam roshan karo', in Hindi... become an achiever).. there is another competitor... “accomplished person”...!!! Some people do not excel in skills, but manage to do a lot for others, and become 'great', not as an exceptionally skilled person, qualified person or a wise/intelligent person, but just as a humble benefactor of several others, and thus earn a lasting reputation! Some others, excel professionally, intellectually, etc and reach peaks of glory, but they are different from that social-worker-type of great persons... they are great scientists, or business empire-builders, statesmen, politicians, painter, musicians-par-excellence, etc!

A person with great potential, consciously chooses to lead a simple life like a non-entity too... The confusion happens when an eminent scientist like Shri Albert Einstein let out a dialogue during his last days, summing up his life experience, something like this: “If there is a re-birth, as they say,.. I would wish to be born as a humble farmer”!!!

It is indeed a debatable question, and there are no specific right answers too!

I did not quite “expect” that my answer would be picked!

More or less yours,
psn (21st June, 2013)

The details:
(quote)

Question:
One should be satisfied with what they have or they should always want and strive for something more?

Answer:
Both!
Our personal needs are simple, and we can be easily satisfied...
But our capability is more, to produce enough for a family (that is what a father of a family does!)...
That gives others a little more freedom to pursue arts, innovation, exploration etc...
The striving is for more out of natural resources, so that more people can spend time doing something more than for just livelihood!
Unquote:

(A remark, after having chosen the answer, which is more remarkable than my answer!)
quote:
Like universe, human mind is also programmed to fill the void. Smart and relevant questions create void that is required to be fulfilled. So, fulfillment of necessities are must, but greed must be avoided. One should be satisfied with what he has and strive for betterment with right conduct.”

The problem of being exploited!

This is a very commonly faced, everyday problem!
The solution is almost situation based. No prescriptions are universal!
For a “typical” example, some nation has chosen to say in its web site itself, to the visa applicants, something to this effect: 'Dear applicants, if we say no to you, please do not even bother to find out what was wrong with the documents you brought for the visa interview... Probably your supporting documents may be flawless! We even happen to say no, even without any apparent reason!' (Here the maxim, 'beggars can't be choosers' seems to apply. The other way of looking at it is, the vulnerability of being exploited with any liberal view while granting a visa is likely to be exploited ruthlessly, and hence the apprehension-based-attitude of 'summary-disposal'!!!

Under such a back-drop a question seems very pertinent, when the asker seeks a 'hint' of how to deal with exploitation! It is not just about preventing exploitation... The precaution renders a person unkind, over a period of time! And then the price is spiritual progress!!!

The question, I suppose is quite simple to understand....
It was:
quote:

Yo need atleast some attittude when dealing with people, otherwise they will exploit you?
Jesus says peace, Gandhi says love,Buddha says be patient untill you get the nibbana. But when you think about the practicality, i cant get it.I have been frank and nice to everyone i met and i have to say, sadly they took that for granted. So i have to ask you all of us need some attittude?we cant live without it?the feeling of self importance?

Unquote:

There is a subtle appeal in the question, when the reference is sought to quote spiritual giants like Jesus and Buddha.. (may be the name of Gandhi-ji was added to insulate the probable challenge, 'Did you see... can you prove... that the other two did exist? It was too long ago!!).. Anyway, we are looking at the concept, whether exploitation is going to be a problem if we 'keep' the honesty, outspokeness, frankness, compassion, kindness, peacefulness, love, helping nature etc., as our friend!

I know it is difficult to answer it.... There are bound to be practical difficulties, with situations from ground-realities being quoted pertinently, though it is possible to pary them with 'philosophical discussion purpose only' as the argument... But that doesn't help... I think I managed to keep the suggestion a bit 'open-ended' and directing the pointers only inwards, which is reasonable enough,... if spiritual growth it too big a price to pay, to insulate from being exploited!

My answer was:
Both, Jesus and Buddha (I suppose Buddha too said about Nibbana, Gandhiji's non-violence was political, not spiritual), had addressed people around them, but did not address global audience (even in those days, there were soldiers of the King/Kingdom, etc!
Today, we are far better insulated against such forced and barbaric exploitation... we have democracy, and freedom to choose, to deal with those whom we trust, products that we like to trust, doctors whom we like to trust, cab-drivers who seem trustworthy to us, etc... All we need is the intelligence to guess and judge bogus-advertisements, false pretenses etc... We can be far more peaceful, non-violent than those who lived in those times! ( I too have been exploited by people who dont know me, when I buy certain branded items with fake labels... but I keep learning... it does not deter me from pursuing a peaceful life!)

Explicitly-exploitedly yours,
psn (21st June, 2013)

What is your Nemesis?

Something very basic, if we are to recognise the hurdles that impede our progress on our path.

And when the path is already popular as a 'pathless-path', it is all the more pertinent, all the more relevant, to familarise onself,... and only then..... to proceed to do 'something' about it!

Therefore, when this question caught my attention, I could see a reflection of my own 'concern' in the other's mind...
When the answer found an appeal, my joy knew no bounds!

So here's my answer:

Thought process!
The day it can be consciously switched off at will, there will be no scope for yet another nemesis even!”

If it finds an appeal in us too.... only then the next question about “How to proceed to do 'something' about it!”... And to that, all I can say is a 'welcome' into spiritual path!... There are far better capable people to guide further!

Your-Nemesis-ly yours, (you can't beat me from being 'yours'!)

Why is life so bad for me?

life is a mandatory attendance futility awareness seminar . no one gets out alive .”

Wonderful sense of humor!!!

This was in answer to a question: Why is life so bad for me?

My answer:
Was it bad right from day one?
At some point of time, it started turning bad... !
When we were a baby, a kid, pint sized... the bulk of the people around us used to draw inspiration looking at us, to find their own happiness, find a reason to cheer up, find a reason to be joyous... the bulk of the people could not hold back their smile, as a response to their own 'looking-at-us' (we were often oblivious to their stare... not now... some one gives an innocent stare even, our BP shoots up!)
Those who manage that childhood innocence (not to many big demands from life), manage to find life too good!

Unquote;

I was amused by the humor filled answer so much that I found this blog as an excuse to reach it to the readers.

My answer had to be a bit simple, short and practical... People are so tired of 'rant' !

“Good health” a lay person's perspective!

I was very fortunate to come across a wonderful blog by a person of great eminence in the medical world. His blog about good health is almost like a presentation, 'cutting across party-lines'... and therefore, it is only reasonable that readers here will not try to deliberately point any accusing arguement at that benevolent person whose compassion is spiritually-oriented towards his fellow beings, and it is this inclination that would have persuaded him to share the technicalities, in a lucid and 'easy to understand' manner!
It is obvious, that as a humble seeker, I too felt encouraged to respond with my own perspective of 'good health' to that blogger, as a token of gratitude... I felt overwhelmed when he generously showered his encouragement towards my point of view! So now, I felt that, perhaps.... a few of us would find it easy to take a look at a lay-person's view point first, and then if the opinion manages to nudge the inquisitiveness of our mind, the more technically relevant one, the more 'how-to-do-it' one might find a way into our mind's grasp.... the other person's blog is what I meant here!

My response was thus:
(quote)
It is very rare to find a 'doctor' describing, explaining and substantiating the subtle meaning of 'health'! Medical students seldom get a chance to focus on 'health' in as much detail as they look at dis-ease, and disease too, only in the reverse direction, looking out for symptom, attempting symptomatic relief first, and going to the root only if needed! The medicines usually wipe out the symptoms, and act as dis-ease relievers, rather than curbing the root cause of ailment... The human physiology does the job as a 'self-repair' and so this gap goes un-noticed, till it is some chronic ailment which also becomes acute ( the BP seldom gets cured, and over a period of time, ensures that several organs joins its list of 'affected' areas! Sugar problem includes sweets of all kinds, when it is a diabetes-case! Even fruits are prohibited, except pappaya and its likes! I am no expert on anatomy, but the restrictions baffle me, always! I did try to make an exception where I have ample leg-room, for instance, a very close person, a chronic and acute asthmatic since 9 years of age, cheerfully eats half a dozen bananas each day, if needed... that person used to be like 'any-other-chronic asthmatic who does not 'touch' a banana! Now, even the symptom is not so unbearable, though the puff-inhaler, salbutamol, etc is a must).
....
My own experience of health is when I find my body improving its responses/receptivity to the outside world, when it finds its own freedom to look after itself well, when it is able to 'decide' what to accept, and what to expel, effortlessly and efficiently, and then offer the body to the spirit to manifest itself in an enhanced form!... Now the spirit is able to find its stability within, is able to vibrate through deep emotions, listen to every vibration as a response from its other-forms outside, and thoroughly rejoice its oneness even through that 'virtual-duality'! On certain days, I simply enjoy going without food, and or without sleep/rest etc even! The respective responses of hunger, tiredness, fatigue etc do happen, but only in its respective pockets, not disturbing the spirit in anyway (thanks to certain spiritual practices which afford an experience where even a full bladder, urgently waiting to empty itself, is being looked-at as a mere psychological barrier rather than an experiential physiological reality!!!... Something, I know, so difficult to look at, leave alone accepting! For example, certain meditative practices, while learning are to be rigidly encased in pre-conditions, like empty stomach, somewhat tired, eyes closed, etc... But when the body is taught and trained to become more amenable, we almost request the stomach, "Hey, dear stomach, I forgot to meditate, so please press your 'pause-button' for a while, and 'resume' after I finish the meditation... hey eyes, please do not look, for a while, go blank... while I mediate clandestinely!... It seems Buddha used to sleep eyes open, sitting, and staring blank!)....
A spiritual forum... and that must have led to make me turn 'topsy-turvy' in my comment, when people are expected to share their ailment-reliefs due to spiritual practices!
A wonderful blog... a rare treat!

Blog Fixing!

Please make no mistake... I do mean something like that cricket-match-Fixing!

.....

A couple of weeks it is, by now..... the news does not spare even non-viewers of TV news channel... Big money, so it pays good dividends for media to cover it (up) too!

Today, suddenly I thought of that Umpire... One who is supposed to “stand on his own legs” and therefore perhaps the en-titlement to be known as 'Leg-Umpire'... The other umpire must be the one who enjoys better freedom to raise his hands 'at will' and so needs no special mention as a 'hand-umpire'.... We know the monitoring by monitor-umpire, who is suppose to have a third eye, and thus the third-umpire...!

Only the fourth umpire has clandestinely switched places with that match-fixing-procedure... Now the media-charm of that ad-sponsored-4th-Umpire has lost its charm!

The umpire, by whatever prefix of name.... is the unsung hero of this match fixing episode... At least, I did not get to hear about how would/might feel when he comes to know that he was riveting his eyes painstakingly at the ball's course, the bowlers holy-feet (when he has to say a no-ball), etc... for an already fixed match!!!

I turned to my blogs! A recent criticism of the very title cleared my name of any possible blog-fixing! The readers are valid umpires, not just name-sake, when they care to tell me that the title of my blog is as foolish as I can be! (that 'dis-eased' title... of mine!) ...

Now, this blog is not about fixing other blog-fixers... so I will be quite helplessly disappointing a few readers of mine, when I end this theme abruptly here (they might have been looking forward to get to read a few gimmicks of mine about the 'art-of-blog-fixing'!... But Sirs, and Mad·e·moi·selles... I ain't no good at blog-fixing, you see!!!)

Fixedly,

The Disease of Spirituality

Spirituality is a communicable dis-ease too!

The lady-receptionist within us has to be a bit gracefully peaceful....
And the 'carrier-courier' out there... has to be well-balanced at ease!

And then, it is just off-the-shelf .... right within! It is not for nothing that the nothingness pervades all over, and therefore all it takes is ...... just 'nothing' ... again, into our within!

There is a little bit of evidence too! The widely popular, erratically accepted, and rarely occurring phenomenon, ....

when ...

that dark coloured one,
wielding just a harmonic bamboo reed,
rendered me into
loss of 'presence of mind' ....
and I lost all my ease and peace”

unceasingly yours,

A Learner's Experience!

See! The title... is in itself .... a disclaimer!
...
A child, was afflicted by a feeling of drudgery, when a primitive exercise was inflicted on her by the maths-tuition-master... That child was to step into 'tenth' class... the parents were visibly anxious... maths is the scoring subject... and so, the tuition master has to be a person who can 'deliver the goods'... the best scores!... And therefore the primitive exercise, he chose to 'inflict'! ...
The child had decided to 'go through it'... The problem was my abrupt presence! I happened to notice her undergoing the inflicted-process... She was writing down the tables of 16 X 20 =320 several times! She was thoroughly embarrassed! To add to her troubles, I suddenly asked her “what is 3 + 4=?”... ... “12” she said inadvertently, and then corrected, “no... no... Oh! ... it is just 7..!!!”
When a bout of emotions get vomited, there is a certain calm.... To me, that seemed precious... I intervened into that significant calm space... the right opportune moment to drive in a concept!!!

'You did so excellently!' I exclaimed... 'both are the right 'kind' of responses from a student! 12 and the 7... !!!.. Only that the answer 7 is correct, just because, the 'sign/symbol' that I had placed between 3 and 4 decided the correct answer, between the two numbers!'
I continued... “please see... you did not actually calculate.... when you uttered 12 or the 7... You were into the 'into-sign' deep enough with those multiplication tables, .... so it took a moment to get into an additional sign of 'addition'... but the mind hurried with the answer in the meanwhile, and the previous program had run the data, inadvertently, and churned out its own answer...
It is the 'functionality of such mind's program' that we seek to refine, when we decide to familiarize ourselves with certain concepts which are acceptable as basics and fundamentals!... And there fore the indispensable process of getting-by-heart of these multiplication tables too!” (Now she seemed to find an increased inquisitiveness in herself!)...
I continued... “Please try to look back... when you were a kid... just in the first standard... the same 3 + 4 is to be calculated each time... I I I (fingers) plus I I I I (fingers of the other hand!)... and the kid starts with 1,2,3.. proceeds... 4,5,6,7... and pauses (did I leave out any upright finger?), and hesitantly announces 7 (the teachers anxiety is ... by the time the answer of the mind '7' reaches the slate/paper, it should not climb on to the '8' that she is so-used-to in the LKG/Oo-KG classes!)...”
“The next stage as a kid is going to be a little smart one.. 3 +4 is handled as ... 3 + IIII .. the counting starts thus... three is already there... now we count.. 4,5,6,7.. a little smarter kids, decide that 4 is already there.... the smaller one is III... so count it as 5,6,7”

“Very soon, we get so familiar with the 81 sets and just 'read-off' the answers! No more arduous counting, or the cal-cu-la-tion.... “
“The multiplication table entails a bit of 'next-level-abstraction'... 'repeated additions' and so, your mind did not manage to master the 'just-read-off' functionality as a 'default-ability' unconsciously... and so the 'now-a-conscious' effort! The infliction on you by that maths teacher!...
....
There was a giggle, from another corner of that drawing room... The elder sister of this tenth-class-child... She was half way through B.E. Engr.. of a circuit branch (a prized possession, if the college is famous for 'good' placement results!).... I turned to that girl... “You are no way better 'placed'...”... I said.... “if auto-placement what you are hoping for... there are very similar 'read-off' set of highly communicative words, phrases, set-of-choiced words that you need to familiarise yourself thoroughly ... such that the 'interview phase' does not present a problem, soon after the written test... for that .... you need to 'read-off' the minds of those who lecture at the “PPT” (Pre-Placement-Talks)... usually, the HR people blurt out the 'mind-and-theme' of the corporate heads, by sheer reason of 'heavy-dose-of-meetings' aimed at refreshing the team-spirit often!,,, Reading-off those abstract 'corporate philosophies'.. and dishing-out a matching 'reading-off' ... of the quick responses, from our own mind-memory's 'go/down' (ware-house... a unique soft-ware-housing!)... constitutes the job-oriented-communication skills”.... The giggle evaporated! I decided to soften a bit... “Okay.. start with sets of 'deep-meaning' words, with positive impact... and then the idioms and phrases... and make it into a 'default availability' like those 81-sets-of-additions, of single digit combinations, to be just 'read off'... and then have good mock-sessions.... if you mean to deploy your engineering skills, at the right kind of ambiance, by ensuring a good employer to pick you!!!”
...
The elder girl was not really wise enough to just nod, and leave it at that!
She asked for trouble, when she mumbled,... out of a new-found-admiration, “Uncle.. how did you... think of ... such concept-connectivity....? (the rest of it could not find an articulation..)”

“Spirituality is an uncompromising discipline, which insists on several such mystic concepts to be just 'read off' ... from the 'being' directly... since it strives towards a perception beyond the sensory levels!.... I too am a student, struggling at the mystic-tables of 'karmic-multiplications' lying dormant since... I don't know how long... ! Only that, here the 'reading-off', entails a Dissolution, instead of the conventional 'Solution' that a discipline like maths seeks out of us!”
(She is not going to appear anywhere around where I am ... for quite some time... !!! The heavy academics, leaves them no such luxuries to be easily 'affordable'!!!)

“Vain efforts!” ... Whines the veins of brains!

Shall we... or Shall we not... try?

Most possibilities get still born, right within the mind, due to indecisiveness...

When it comes to a spiritual pursuit, the 'dissuading kind of information' is in abundance! Any mild flicker of interest within is abruptly blown out, when we get to hear that a spiritual path is 'a pathless path!'. And then the very basic problems, like finding an 'authentic' source of a teacher, a Guru, a guide at least (a dumb book form..... like ... 'Spirituality-for-dummies!'... Oh! But the writer is not going to be so dumb!!!... the 'awareness' of just this factor can scare the dumb! ).

Even in our routine lives, we confront 'not-possible' situations, 'efforts are likely to be in vain' situations, and yet something pushes us into the situation, and we are a hero-by-accident!

A fellow was drowning in a turbulent river... The whole village was watching... suddenly a fellow was seen jumping into the water, and he happened to save the drowning chap too... The whole crowed applauded the saviour, and echoed a chorus ' Wah! Wah!, Hero...' etc... That frustrated chap yelled, 'To Hell with your appreciation.. But first, somebody please tell me... who pushed me into the river???'

And then, even when there is no turbulent situation... just a dull drudgery job, a dull one waiting, it happens thus: (http://www.businessballs.com/inspirational_motivational_quotes.htm#everybody_somebody_anybody_nobody_poem )
This is a story about four people: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it.
Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did.
Somebody got angry (about that) because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody knew that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realised that Somebody wouldn't do it.
And (/It ended up that) Everybody blamed Somebody because (/when) Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Alternative last line:
And (/It ended up that) Everybody blamed Somebody because Nobody actually asked Anybody.
(The alternative last line is more appropriate for illustrating principles of responsibility and delegation, whereas the one above it is more appropriate for principles of individuals taking personal responsibility, irrespective of delegation)

.......

Even when we become “achievers” with great efforts....
there is a concept which runs thus:

*in most of the cases ........*

* *'First Class'* students gets technical seats, some becomes Doctors and
some Engineers

* The *'Second Class'* passed, after passing MBA / CA / IAS, becomes
Administrators and controls the *'First Class'*

* The *'Third Class'* passed, enters politics, becomes Ministers and
controls *both*

* Last but not the least, The '*Failures'* joins the underworld and
controls *all* the above.

Hows that ???

....
To do or not to do.. is thus a perenial question!
(It is under this back-drop that I attempted a vain answer to a whine-like question.... )

Yours nobody,
psn (4th June, 2013)

(The question:)
Should we make an effort even though knowing that our efforts and trials will be in vain?
My answer:
Wonderful question!
Such a question occurs only when there is an inner conflict between logic and reasoning...
Logic says, 'efforts will be vain'
Reasoning says, 'How can you be so sure?... Some luck? Some miscalculation in logic?..' etc...

In that movie, "Terminator, the Judgement day!"... a Robot with Perfect logic says, 'no way' to save the hero's mother... but the hero kid says, 'doesn't matter... obey me!' and then the logic defying factors make the 'vain' as possible, but paying a very heavy price!... It is only a movie... Logic is a robot, with not negative emotions (no emotions in fact!), so ... pushing down the logic aside for a while was easy, and above that , logic(the robot itself) was able to do its very best, despite disagreement about viability of the project!... In our real life, our own logic is "also-fuzzy'!!!

We too ought to expand our 'knowing that efforts and trials will be vain' to
a)recheck if we left out some trustworthy outside help,
b) re-check our own data base of information
c) re-check if we tried all analysis of 'application of our internal resources' (Oh I did not think of that! ... we often discover... example, we are stuck with a tight screw, on a highway, and the vehicle is stranded, till we open that screw... we do not have a screw driver... we did not 'think' that a coin in the purse can act like the blade of a screw driver!)
d) Our trust in people
e) our own intelligence, which might function better only under stress-conditions... when we are lazy, it 'usually' dissuades us from taking strenuous jobs, with a lame excuse that 'efforts will be vain!'
f) and so on..

Inflow of Influence!

Interdependence engages influence... perhaps ...... to makes its presence 'felt'!

The earliest recognition of this aspect dates back, maybe just around middle of the 18th century, when the influence of stars was believed to be cause for an affliction, a viral one, affecting masses at a time, to beget yet another name for itself, 'Influenza'....

What perhaps started as a word to denote a mass affect on people, by a large mass of a body at a far off place... stayed back to connote the 'star' effect of an individual, when we chose to say, “A very highly influential person”!!!

A diluted form of confession finds an expression thus: “Please forgive me, but I was under the influence of alcohol, when I said those things” (perhaps, a sutble influence of escapism, in fact when we blame the poor achohol, which would not have found its way into us, without our influence on it!... Only that we patronise the best brewers, by way of outsourcing our efforts towards 'influencing'... Thus we aggregately constitute a confluence of influences!

With all these influences, incessantly working on us, I wonder, as to how we are going to re-influence our spirit through a highly influential spiritual quest, on that 'difficult-to-influence pathless path of spirituality, so as to remain 'detached' from all influences!!!

Unless we master the influence, influence of Masters is bound to keep us under the spell of influence, at least here on spiritual forum!

Influentially yours,
psn (2nd June, 2013)
