Enthusiastic Excitement

Interchangeable words, indeed.
But, the present day popular word amongst youngster, techies, students etc is ‘exciting offers’. They use the other word more often in a negative context , with lack of enthusiasm, not feeling /do not feel enthusiastic etc… A few decades ago, the leader was supposed to ‘enthuse’ the followers/comrades with a fiery spirited speech. But the guardians of English language seem to dissuade the use of the word ‘enthuse’ in the same context as enthusiasm. And then the ‘meaning’ of the one is used to explain the meaning of the other!

So, when a question came up, to try to find out the subtle difference (if any), I took the bait. The answer or the rewards there of does not really prove anything conclusively, as long as dictionaries do not vouch for it. But it is always worth while to feel relaxed a bit, taking a look at these ‘encouraging’ words!

True or false --Enthusiasm is not the same as just being excited.?

My reply:
Very true.
Enthusiasm is a very deep emotion, which may or may not manifest.
Love creates an enthusiasm to meet a beloved person, despite hurdles to travel etc, and can give fulfillment even by meeting of eyes, or minds, or thoughts etc.
A woman can be forced to get excited against her wish/desire (enthusiasm about physical relationship), by physical force, etc.
Why, even chemistry used the word 'excited' about sub atomic particles, when 'charged' with some energy(magnetic, electric, chemical etc)!
Excitement is usually short lived. Enthusiasm on the other hand helps us to cross that 'breaking-point' too, like during the exam days, the body, mind feels fatigues and tired, but an enthusiastic student overcomes these and continues beyond the breaking point, to perform better.

Control

I suppose, the “Ctrl” key (our Computer key board) is the most innocent of all the things, people, factors, phenomenon, etc that try to control something!

When humans try to control, the understanding is quite puzzling, complex, sophisticated, and what not! I tried to look at a few common situations, from ‘control’ point of view. (Oh! No! I have the least of any intentions to control even the inclination to reach the end of this blog! Neither mine, nor yours! I know the value of freedom, inner freedom!).

The child as he grows, knows when to shriek, shout, and embarrass the parents, thereby exercise full control to have its way, even when it does not suit the parents, even in the least to oblige the stubborn ‘stand’ of that kid!

The bride’s mother is keen to ensure that the daughter has full control or at least some control over the in laws…. (Elaboration is risky here! Nods of approval is obvious.)

In the name of ‘access’ to the big boss, in times of need, in case when the immediate boss does not oblige, a junior employee invests a few extra ‘Good morning Sir’ at every opportunity, carefully avoiding an obvious encroachment into privacy of that boss, who does not ‘usually see’ juniors of that level! (At school, a few ‘seniors’ advised us to invest a few ‘namastey’, laying more stress on the prefix, ‘Panditji’ …. the ‘ji’ had to be clear with ‘jeee’ so that this particular teacher is kept happy about us, otherwise, we are in for ‘automatic trouble’ the moment we come to higher classes where he is the ‘exclusive’ monopolistic head of the department!).

There was that ‘social control’ over banks before the nationalization took place in India. I also had to confront a phrase, ‘controlling interests’ where a person has maximum say, with least stakes in a company!

The police personnel, as soon as they are transferred to a strange location, make it a point to have ‘liaison’ with ‘big’ people, to ensure ‘some’ control … this ‘some-control’ has never been about ensuring proper law and order. It is just about ensuring a smooth sail during their term at this location (police station, or whatever). Now the ‘getting’ to know each other at such vulnerable places is directly proportional to the priorities, and vested interests of all those who need this type of typical control. Junior policemen like constables hold back a few ‘links’ to ensure that they too have a ‘say’ with their bosses. Politicians too ‘make it known’ to the new in-charge at the police station, that they are the true keepers of law and order…. And so on…

The ‘controller of examinations’, of a university or an autonomous college, feels ‘left out’ of administrative control of all kinds despite the ‘wide powers’ and the ‘awe’ that even instills fear in junior students. So, all that this poor fellow can do is to keep his own powers at full steam, inadvertently resulting into needless harassment to students!

With the experience of having faced all kinds of ‘social controls’ from all over, kids step into adolescence, then manage to scrape through that collegiate degree, and try to attend a group discussion during a ‘campus placement’ process. The observer is the fellow going to decide the ‘best’ candidate. The candidates really find the situation quite ‘messy’ with their minds trying to remind them of all types and patterns of ‘controls’ they saw, faced, and managed through, all along, while none of these seems to ‘fit in’ into this situation!

A doctor who is not quite established into a practice tries to ‘control’ the treatment period of a patient, who should normally be let off with some mild treatment/consultations.

People do not spare even that game of cards, which is meant to loosen up themselves, with some relaxation/entertainment… but end up trying to ‘control’ the cards needed by the next player, knowing fully well, this holder is never going to anyway make it!

(Here on….., the memories and imagination has full control over recalling any number of such ‘control’ situations!)

Finally there comes the elusive prescription for some ‘self-control’! Less said, the better!

All through my life, I did enjoy viewing this drama of ‘control’ management, until the spiritual master/guide happened to say, ‘from this point onwards…. One has to give up oneself totally, a self-surrender… with total trust…… to the master….” Now comes ‘my’ trouble! He even clarified, he does not look towards slavery of any kind. He does not need any other human being for any thing at all! No ‘giving up’ of wealth, etc is going to help. The purpose of this ‘surrender’ begins and ends with the ‘seeker’ oneself. I had to look at deeper and still deeper aspects of “control” which I would have had over myself! The problem starts with “I” and “myself” the two (or is it 3..?.. that ‘my’ and ‘self’…?)distinct aspects within! Anyway, this particular paragraph was a casual mention, out of pure intentions to entertain the readers at my expense, so no further elaboration is warranted, as to how I happened to ‘deal’ with this control of mine…

To me, it looks like, ‘the nature’ seeks a balance, not a control… natural calamities give us a message, that somewhere the balance got toppled. Even physiologically, the main cardinal humours {(Life Sciences & Allied Applications / Physiology) Also called cardinal humour Archaic any of the four bodily fluids (blood, phlegm, choler or yellow bile, melancholy or black bile) formerly thought to determine emotional and physical disposition……..out of humour…. in a bad mood……..} are supposed to be in a balance (some kind of equilibrium), to enjoy good health. The astrological predictions too, seems to largely depend upon the isolating, and spotting of some imbalance, to be able to predict some event … non-routine events are usually what is sought to be predicted, I suppose. Only we, mess it up, saying “I am the boss in my house, and I have my wife’s permission to say so!”

One thing I am tempted to mention here, with an appeal to ‘try to find a way’ to consider whether this is relevant, is that …. ‘control’ of any kind, for however noble purpose, genuine purpose, reasonable or logical considerations, inevitably entangles the controller, just like the spider which also remains stuck in the very same web it weaves to trap its victims! (May be, perhaps, it is for this reason that the known attributes of all that we call as ‘divine’ does not try to control us, while the attributes of ‘devil’ and its likes invariably tries to control … If this proposition seems beyond the realms of logic, there is always that ‘quantum entanglement theory’ to toy with!).

With 'controlled' regards,

"Spirited" question

I would say, definitely it is!
The phenomenon is not entirely beyond reach. Most of us do ‘feel’ it. There is something that sometimes, seems like an unseen giant hand collecting the thought force of many of us, snowballing it into some sort of a strange energy, and unleashing its power in quite an unexpected way! We see the manifest form of it taking shape a bit later. Some kind of an upsurge, all of a sudden, for no known reason, defying all logic! For instance, that freedom movement, we have seen, becoming a mass movement at a particular point of time. Or that protest against rampant corruption surfacing all at once, like some unseen force recognizing the collective desires of many people, stirring up a storm! A new fashion wave, a new liking for a particular kind of music, a new breed of kids performing so well in music, and such other ‘large-scale’ changes, as if it is a result of a long drawn secret, under-ground-plan, etc.

Very clearly, the asker is just using the ‘instance’ that could possibly find an appeal to the answerers, but the theme of the question is about the ‘spirit’ that comes together. What I liked most was the way in which the personality that shrouds the spirit is stripped off. The individualistic identifications that the mind usually causes its own ‘clouding’ and hides the lustrous shine of the spirit behind it, is sought to be demarcated or rather chipped off , from the theme, using a wonderful formation of words “impersonal collective energy”!

With that, I would prefer to take you straight to the question.
(I am glad, that the answer could find its ‘mark’! I have left out the mystic aspects, details, application, utility etc.. since it pertains to a different domain. Maybe, it is an unwritten ‘pact’ that ‘gets into’ (mystics), like some of the embedded software, needing no further tutoring!)

Teacher! Sensei! Master! (you know ;-) I have a question for those who can discern the spirit of spirituality.?
What is the 'spirit' of spirituality, particularly as it appears within R&S? I've noticed something happening here, especially when two or more are gathered with one accord.(could it be THAT spirit?) I'm not talking about the spirit of contention, (which is definitely here) and it doesn't necessarily involve religion, per se,(people from all walks are involved, including Atheists) and it's more than an exchange of technical information. Are those involved creating something, invoking something, or releasing something? (a spirit breaking free?) Is it an impersonal, collective energy? It feels energizing, but it doesn't feel impersonal. It feels joyful, loving and truthful. It shifts me. Can this energy be harnessed? How? Has the spirit of spirituality taken on a life of its own and once created cannot be destroyed, but only added to? Is it 'born' of the unity of those involved, or is it an outside agency that shows up when conditions are just right? Either way, what needs to happen?

My answer:
Yes. It is almost a miracle!
All it takes is a bit of focused mind to feel its energy. All along, we humans of the so called 'modern' innovative minds, have been striving to improvise on the outside, sophisticate, and re-quip ourselves.
The ancients did just that, but entirely on the inside. And please see, they paced their rate of sophistication at an incredible speed. The documented eastern culture provides some evidence. The rituals, traditions and practices, are highly indicative of their perceptions beyond sensory level. We depend on gadgets to do almost the same things, but growing at snails pace. Communications, health, unconventional energy sources (this is the most significant one!) and all other broad classifications we can name today. What we call as blue-tooth was encased right within their being. The spirit and its nature, its power was better understood by them, and they harnessed it directly (not through mutilation+manipulation of gross raw materials that we do today(and we end up littering the planet and space around with everlasting junk!)
...
Some where, we accidentally tripped on("stepped on", ) their methods/methodology!
..
I was wondering if somebody would notice it and mention it too! And here seems to be the very same question! "Impersonal collective energy!" ....... I suppose this phrase comes closest to describing it well with available words (at least for the present)! That "collective mind" is still 'stained' with some attributes of 'mind' and personality! Like that mob psychology (college students, viewing a movie at a theatre in a group shout and whistle for no reason, while individually they sit quiet and finish the movie!)
...
Feels like some unseen hands has cleverly devised/designed it just for us here! "nicknames" hiding the profile, names, and personality, provides the essential ingredients to pool in "just" the energies!
..
The spirit of spirituality, once created cannot be destroyed. Yes. It gets merged, to re-emerge when needed! That is what needs to happen. And it is amazing, "the way" it is happening! No amount of mechanisation (in the name of modernisation), could arrest it, could confine it. The spirit dominating the matrix!

Faking Happiness

Oh! What a question!

"Why do I fake my happiness? I'm not really happy?"

I only hope that the asker had clearly ‘maintained’ the awareness of the distinction between ‘feigning’ and faking! I am almost sure, most people would settle down for a lesser hurting word ‘feign’ while asking such a question, even genuinely!

While this faking, or feigning (whatever), contributes quite significantly to even a deep sense of loneliness, a sort of emptiness, hollowness, etc, the worst aspect is, it retards the spiritual growth! I would make a ‘guess’ that unless the spiritual guides/masters are exceptionally skilled in ‘communications-technology’, they would prefer to deal with this aspect of a disciple a bit subtly, lest they would end up scaring or de-motivating the ‘seeker’.

The negative effects of such tendencies are not uncommon, but the symptoms are not easily ‘relatable’ to the root cause. (It is here that I cannot help admiring the ancients who had laid strong foundations in the ‘cambric’ of our the then societies, which ensured high-quality emotional-training, through institutionalized structure which has come to be known as a ‘religion’ now. This structure itself is in its ‘faked’ form now! The concepts have outlived the structured form, and hence the access got restricted to evolved few. This ‘structure’ needs physical support of a society, not a few scattered individuals here and there. Well, be that as it may, for, that is not our present ‘issue’ here.)

My answer:

May be trying to mix up the 'relationship' concepts.

There are the 'basics', surmised well by a great being...
quote:
If your body goes in search of a relationship, we call this sexuality.
If your mind goes in search of a relationship we call this companionship.
If your emotion goes in search of a relationship, we call this love.
If your energies go in search of a relationship, we call this yoga.
unquote:

Now, if we are trying for one type of relationship, using the search-mode of another kind, then, a possibility of a 'mix-up' can happen. That is why, deep within ourselves, we clearly see a 'fake'! Very few muster courage to even accept within ourselves that there IS a slight faking. It is admirable to find a genuine 'seeking' to avoid this faking! One should also be prepared to face the costs of avoiding faking. Because, most people are quite comfortable only with this 'fakes' or substitutes. It has become sort of "practical" way of life. It has gone too far, to convince us that 'real' is more practical! That feeling of 'loner' is the true litmus test, when we mix up things. What really hampers spiritual growth is the difficulty in coming out of this 'craving' to mix up! Yes, like those addictions, even emotions become addictions or craving, once we let it grow for too long in a negative direction. The only way to come out of any 'habit' is to do things more consciously, in full awareness, alertness. Over a period of time, what is not needed would get dropped off by itself. Not point, trying to suppress it!

Affirmative difference

Even those who go through ritualistic chanting of certain prescribed sound forms get a doubt quite often about the utility, efficacy of this futile looking exercise.

While most of such people keep the doubt to themselves, and continue the ritual to avoid conflicting with religious compulsions etc, a few of them do get a serious doubt, and for want of ‘credible’ evidence, tend to dilute the chanting, salvage as much time and effort as possible.

It is quite rare to find a person who seeks to find out the difference between such chanting, and affirmative suggestions.. .. especially when there is a heavily mounting evidence, vouched by experiments under controlled conditions, in favor of dependable effect, and efficacy of strong affirmative suggestions to the sub conscious!

The question is not new. The asker’s mind is ready to look at it, “now”. That is where a fresh approach finds justification. Otherwise, this question is a mere by product of basic positions taken up by genuine, open-minded, receptive (etc)….. Atheism subscribers.

When the modern scientific methodology affords perceivable results, demonstrable evidences, the ancient systems leaves a person in the lurch, to believe blindly or simply get lost!

So, no point in further elaborating the aspects of the ‘fuzzy’ thing called chanting, except, to humbly reproduce the question and answer.

However, I feel that those who are more eager would find a few references quite interesting. Not that I could pick up the ‘exact’ or apt reference. Like any novice, I too typed ‘chanting’ in the search box of the blog page (thanks to Google Team for that new ‘search box’), and glanced at the previous blogs listed.

What is the difference between chanting mantras and giving affirmations to the subconscious mind and which is?
more effective?
If mantras are meant to program the subconscious mind, and also to get rid of unwanted thoughts, what about affirmations?
Instead of saying Gayathri mantra , if I say "I'm getting stronger and with the strength I have I will help everyone around"

All this is said in Alpha state of mind where you're totally in touch with your subconscious mind, so these things gets registered at a deeper level even though its not at a conscious level

So is there any difference between mantra and affirmations
and
which one is more effective

My suggestion:
A motor car has to be 'steered', and there must be control on the brake, gears, clutch, etc especially on a curved gradient. A train, is almost held firmly between the rails, the rails held firmly by fish plates. The fish plates are frequently pushed back into its place by track laborers. So, the train needs very little 'steering' compared to that of the vehicle, and this comparison gets magnified when we take into account the size, weight and the power of the train (for instance, if we try to visualise that same train with all its bogies, etc, runnning on a road highway, with the wheels left at the entire mercy of the steering!
.
.A mantra has embedded sounds which are technically called 'seed' aphabets. It does wonders, without the need of mind focusing. That is the effect of chanting. (The mind does affect, but only adversely, ... that is why a person chanting with a cluttered mind fails to notice the benefit of that chanting soon/easily.)
..
There was a video where a 6 month baby laughs incessently, when the dad makes some sounds like 'clung' 'bing' 'dueng' etc. Probably the mother did the videographing. Most people love to watch that full throated laughter again and again on that utterly innocent baby face! (But, very few would have stopped to see deep enough, that the child is not focused looking at anywhere in particular, and does not laugh at all the varieties of sounds! The child's logcial aspect of the mind is hardly functional at that tender age. The sound travels unhindered, and activates the energy centers within that child. Quite unawares, the child manifests the appropriate emotion attached to that particular intuitive response generated by the brain with each surge of energy, triggered or initiated by that sound which travels through ears to that part of the body, plus the direct subtle vibration that directly reaches that tender, fresh, heavily receptive, clean body! (It is very difficult to even look at such a possibility, leave alone "trying" to accept it. Only an experience through some deeper level spiritual processes/programs at sustained practices can afford a glimpse at such a possibility :) ... Yet the temptation is there to make this possibility 'seemingly' available, at least! Please see, we get a jolt at some unexpected sounds from the rear, our back side, when we are set into silence, doing some work with an absorbed mind! Different sounds give different levels of that 'jerk'. Our mind is in a hurry to call it as 'shock' .. very close to fear!)

Stock Holding

I was wondering why it is called so, in ‘modernised’ economies, while in India, it is called Share-holding, Share market etc.

May be it is about stocking something for times of need. Basically an investment. But, for the purpose of disinvesting, to buy something else needed urgently.

I used to admire one particular set of people, who are nomadic. They carry just a few utensils for cooking, a few clothes, and perhaps a thin mat tightly wrapped, tied to a thin twine of thread, dangling on the back along the shoulder. The woman folk had to carry babies. That is all. Their whole world was on their shoulders. ‘Lock, stock & barrel’ as the sayings goes. In urdu language, they are also known as ‘Khana-badosh’ (entire kitchen on the shoulders!).

There was a time, when people felt a likely hood of price rice in petrol, they would rush to nearest petrol pump, fill the vehicles up to the brim! And most of the outlets would promptly put up a hastily hand-written sign, on a small placard/ card-board, saying “No stock”. (And yet, we can spot a few vehicles quietly sneaking to their ‘office’ room, and leaving stealthily with a ‘fill up’!). This kind of “stocking” happened about any item, that is likely to become scarce, and hence over-priced. (At school, when we were kids, we used to stop bringing ‘notes’ book when the exam dates approach, for fear of some boy ‘picking’ it up for his own ‘stock’ of reading material. Those with ‘unique‘ handwriting did not have this apprehension! That was when we learned to admire the value of undecipherable handwritings, those which only the writer could read! I had an elderly cousin who was then slogging at short-hand, and for a brief while my mind got engaged at looking at the ‘know-how’s’ of this phonetic writing skills. I even managed to beseech him to demonstrate a sample of ‘non-English language’ being written in that “English-shorthand” symbols! But the visuals of slogging that I could see for years strongly dissuaded me from getting polarized any further to that art!).

I still felt that this ‘stocking’ is not being properly handled. People used to jealously hold polythene covers (used ones!), conceal it carefully in un-reachable corners of household!
But, even I used to store large brown envelopes, because it came handy when the school books needed replacement of its brown covers. I could just invert these large brown packing covers, and manage as notebook/textbook covers for the rest of the school’s that-year-term. The biggest stockist of ‘plastic-cover’ in our family, was my grandmother, who had no access to even small towns then. Anything packed in a polythene cover, the cover itself was ‘prime’ consideration, and she used to hurry to ‘carefully’ store it in a very ‘safe’ place first! (Now, the whole planet is littered with unwanted ‘plastic bags’ causing the biggest problem as a non-biodegradable material!

So, I kept wondering what is it, stocking which, all other kinds of stock-holding can be obviated!

This question helped me to look at it cohesively!
(I thought, it is worth sharing it with a few readers too!)

What are your solutions about UPA GOVERNMENT going ahead with another petrol price rise today midnight?
Poor Indian people already suffering; Middle class income group people suffering due to poor petrol price mismanagement; Indian rich people 15% are not at all bothered about 85% of Indian people affected by price rise;Rich people will also suffer due to imperfect frequent price rise of all commodities and services.

My reply:
It is not just about petrol.
We pay heavily for something that is our own product in abundance!
Even that stupid court-fee stamp is seldom sold at its MRP (or rather face value!). Petrol is 'freed' to decide its own cost at international prices for crude. So, its cost is now decided by the oil producing countries. The lasting solution amidst all these price-rise, inflation, stampede deaths, scams, etc is to rebuild the lost glory of our country, through one single irreplaceable thing called 'trust'!If we take a look at the history for some ten thousand years, up to two centuries ago, economy finds very little mention. We have that Chanakya's artha Shastra about 5 centuries ago. Not that we never had good economic conditions. Economy did not warrant too much attention. We were an evolved lot, and material aspects of life were effortlessly taken care of! The problems were much greater, and uncertainties too large. But they never really mattered! Trust, mutual trust, was a giant shock absorber that took care of everything. For example, right now, when we plan a vehicle to land on moon or mars, we improvise the vehicle itself, not the land there. This vehicle can face any road condition on the 'other' planet. On earth, we have improved roads, so we now spend less on vehicle-cost because the sturdiness can be diluted. This concept cannot be blindly adopted to human beings. We cannot dilute our character, our capability because we have the comforts of gadgets, mechanisms, rules, administrations, (a government, a democratic right to pass on the blame!). Please see, calculators made us lazy with calculation-tables. Computers, emails made us lazy to take up a pen and paper to write a letter. Mobiles make us lazy to walk up to a neighbor staying three blocks away!

(To whatever extent we improve on mutual trust, we reduce the 'cost of living'! Within a family, trust helps emotional costs.
At work place, trust builds team spirit to reduce work-cost, productivity etc.
At national level, trust helps security cost, bribe costs, PDS-costs, election-costs, parliament functioning-costs, police-costs, form-filling costs, too many 'xerox' copies costs (photo-copies, it is ) as proof of address/identity etc! The district level education dept officer insists on a "Xerox" of his own order permitting a school's recognition for that year, when we apply for inter-state migration no-objection certificate on the school's TC !)
...
Trust would have helped us avoid that needless stampede deaths at Sabarimala route this week. Four policemen cannot handle the lakhs strong crowd, when those Guruswami's fail to be guru's for the 'trusting' chela's !)

Purposely

“Sir, he is purposely trying to disturb me”…..

This is how we used to try to tell our teacher when we were kids at the school. We were yet to find familiarity with the better option of ‘deliberately’ which would have sounded better. Some of us did shift to ‘wantonly’ since we still felt a bit unsure about ‘deliberations’! As adults, we only deliberate, but seldom reach a practical solution!

When a purpose is purported to be ascribed to an emotional want being wantonly fulfilled, the others around feel fuzzy about the purpose!

Well, let us not delude ourselves into thinking that we are trying our wits with words. The purpose is, to look at the purpose of certain attitudes, especially the negative ones. I would not entirely rule out the adverse effects of imposing upon ourselves, even a few positive traits!

The problem starts with a chance discovery of some purpose getting fulfilled quite incidentally! The baby discovered that crying intensely seems to get the attention of its mother much easily (languages or even its existence is yet to be known). Over a period of time, crying gets into the very chemistry so much that it can’t be helped any more! Starting with this harmless thing called ‘crying’ for no (apparent) reason, children cultivate into adamancy, irritability, stubbornness, anger, insulting or abusive language etc. As adults, the ‘purpose’ of these negative tools get sophisticated, but now, they have come to stay!

It is in this back drop, that I rejoiced an innocent question, quite aptly using the child-like mind’s meaning of the word ‘purpose’.

It would be only fair to take the reader straight to the question now.

GS: What Is The Purpose of jealously...?
...from a evolutionary stand point? everything we do and everything that ever was has a purpose and this is painfully true with our behavior and feelings from a evolutionary stand point. How (evolutionary speaking) could be benefit from having jealously? We are jealous of people who have something we do not, something we wish we had (attractiveness, power ect...) well when you think about it when it comes to these things it's important to evolution. we need someone in power to guide us, we need attractive people for mating... yah know? so why (EVOLUTIONARILY speaking) would we have a feeling to destroy or harm these other humans that hold such an important part in keeping the species strong?

My answer:
Are we not mixing up logic and emotions?

The moment we look for "purpose" we are looking for the "logical" reason.

Yes, evolution/preservation of species needs that mutual attraction. Nature does that. Only human beings over-do it.

When it comes to jealousy or laughter, it is a manifest form of intuitive aspect of mind, called emotion. Emotions do not obey logic. (That is why when a kid says to the mom "Today I won't wear blue skirt, come what may!", the mother pleads for logic. Mother has lots of logic for that blue ... may be it is the one in the queue. May be it needs just one more use and then a wash, maybe that blue would withstand cold/rain/climate. But all that is usually mom's responsibility!). Still, there is a subtle purpose for jealousy. When this negative emotion seeks a manifest form, something intolerable is sought to be put to end, showing that jealousy. Beyond this point, we cannot satisfy any 'purpose' to convince a non-jealous person.

Meaningful Synchronicity

Looks quite a simple phrase!
But those who have had a feel of “Sufi” ism, or at least the ‘techniques’ know this phrase in its fullest sense!
I was all admiration for this very brief answer, to a wonderful and ‘basic’ question.
(My answer seems to get thoroughly dwarfed , when I look at this one. Had I looked at it before I gave mine, I would not have behaved like that proverbial ‘cashew-nut’ (in too great a hurry to pop out of the very seed-container-fruit!).

For those who believe in this, no proof is necessary. For those who do not believe in this, no proof is adequate J… (Courtesy: That grand old Hindi film, “Neel Kamal” the title narrative, which, I still look at, as a claimer as well as a disclaimer. It says this about ‘Ghosts’!)

The same asker posed two wonderful questions. To me they seem related and to those inclined to accept basic assumptions, it is enough to say, it comes from the same ‘mind’.

I happened to look at movie examples, as an added attraction, while attempting the answers.

Why do human like questioning basic asumption?

My answer:
But that is not quite common, or quite often!
And whenever it happens, it is admirable!
..
(There was a grand English Movie.. The Night of the Generals... Our great Hero, OmarSherif is investigating a murder charge alleged to be committed by a very senior army officer, a General. During enquiry, a hotel receptionist remarks:"Oh! Army people... Murder is their profession" (... is a "Basic Assumption"! and a correct one too!)Reply given by Omar Sheriff (much junior officer): "What is admirable in the large scale is monstrous in the small!".

Whether we question or not, it is good to be aware of 'basic' assumption that maintaining the 'center of gravity' while walking is worth it, or else, a stupid banana peel is good enough to crack our bones, slipping on it when we carelessly place our foot, and let go the balance from the other foot!
..
The whole of the edifice of 'Objectivism' is built on a basic assumption that 'existence exists'.(axiomatic assumption). Questioning this, objectivism would collapse. Our sensory level of perception supports only this, nothing deeper! Spirituality actually begins, when we look at this assumption (not exactly questioning it)... and then we may open up to the possibility of perception beyond sensory levels of perceptions! Till then, even that 'quantum-entanglement' theory is just a possibility, a very good one, to fetch a doctorate, but sans-experience!
..
(Wonder whether it was warranted to go this deep... basic assumption about tolerance levels might get busted like a bubble! :).....}

Can courage be defind as a moral quality?
Then what will we call the fact that a blind man runs into a battle field?

My reply:
Courage is the absence of fear.
"Morality" is what we try to make out of it, to glorify 'that kind' of courage, to persuade people to be more discrete while trying out that 'fearlessness' for negative type of actions. (For instance, even for terrorist type of activities, like suicide-bombing, etc , some amount of courage is required, freedom from fear of death, for a little while at least. If this fear is predominant, people use intoxicants, nervous stimulants to get rid of that fear. But with such short cuts, the fear returns with compounded interest, that is, now with some nervous debility too!).
It is the deeper sense of courage that is admired as 'moral quality'. Charles Bronson, as a character in a western movie (Black and white film-era), chided a kid for calling his father as a coward. This kid's father was a farmer, not proficient in use of fire arms. Charles Bronson chose to defend that poor farmer with his expertise at guns, though he was himself a loner depending only on guns for survival! Here, the dialogue delivery is superb, when Charles Bronson says "Kid, never call your dad a coward! It requires greater courage to raise a family. I never had that kind of courage, that is why I live by guns only!" )... It is the use of 'courage' that gets the color of morality.

Self Awareness

What an idea it is!
It gives enough clarity, and at the same time, causes enough confusion too, but in an utterly clandestine manner! Otherwise, why at all so much fuss about ‘becoming’ or even trying to become ‘spiritual’?

Well, it would be futile to elaborate any further about something so deeply experiential and spoil the chances of any keen seeker, by trying to put some more ‘ideas’ into that person. But I had to use the word as a caption because of a very surprising and quite unexpected subscription to an answer that I wrote for the sheer pleasure of answering.

I have to also acknowledge with some humble gratitude, the asker’s comments, without which, I would have been required to keep guessing about ‘why me’ for that answer!

Any way that’s it. We do share a precious idea.
(Additionally, some people say that hyperfocus is an important element of meditation. )

Difference between super creative people, and people in a mental institute?

My answer:
Self awareness.Otherwise, these super creative people have overcome all other barriers of 'ordinary' people(fatigue, mind-blocks, breaking point, etc)Nice question.

Asker’s comments:
I actually have broke those barriers, lol. 14 hour non stop drawings and what not. I'm sure ADHD has something to do with it. (Hyperfocus)I was thinking self awareness to, now I just wonder does self awareness increase as creativety does. Thanks for your answer! Appreciate it.

Women Empowerment

When I had heard of this phrase for the first time, I had brushed aside any further keenness to look at its concept. I felt that this is the concern of politicians, administrators, and the likes, and I as an individual have nothing to do with even understanding the concept.

The next time, when it caught my attention was when the legislators could not arrive at a “consensus” about it for too long a time. The topic was discussed too often in the prominent spaces of newspapers. Time to resolve that itch to know what it is all about, before wrapping it up, I thought.

In the meanwhile, the spiritual practices had started revealing the finer aspects of what a human mind consists of, in terms of gender differences, the masculinity, and the graceful femininity. Suddenly it seemed too simple to deal with that ‘empowerment’ at individual level. This involvement ‘as an individual’, from my point of view, has nothing to do with the way those politicians have chosen to look at it. And yet, if somebody likes, this way of dealing with it could go a long way to foster better bonds and healthy relationships at family levels.

The awaited chance came when a question arose, and I scrambled for words to express the non-verbal ideas that had taken shape.

Since the answer found some appeal, I felt it may be ‘okay’ to share it with yet others.

What is women empowerment?
Some people are telling that women started ruling the world and no place for men... But some people are telling that still women didn't get freedom in this world...Which is true under your opinion??And what do you think women empowerment is???Are women downtrodden?? Or they rule??I'm in a big damn confusion that are people misusing women freedom or they use it in a right way...??Please people give me a solution to my confusion.....Just record what you think in your mind...

My reply:
In very simple terms, it is an appeal to everybody around(more importantly the women themselves!) to look at women with a little more of 'open mind'. That 'empowerment' is a sheer consequence. For example, when more women are literate, they can contribute in a unique way, by communicating and highlighting all those aspects that are exclusive to women folk. So, literacy empowers their intellect. Their opinion gets a hearing. When highly evolved intelligent among them get recognition, it is wonderful to be also 'ruled' by them!
But, the interpretation by leaders for their own vested interests (like vote bank politics etc), misleads youngsters, and then the apprehensions precede (quite naturally so), about women "taking over" and making men their slaves. This would never happen. Because, human species has traveled too far, to be able to reverse that natural biological phenomenon that is still prevailing in animals (Female lions, tigers, dogs, etc are more powerful ferocious than male ones!). Even among men, dictatorship like attitude is usually short-lived, though the damage done by such attitude is quite enormous. (At school, one day, we happened to learn a very significant lesson. We voluntarily 'empowered' the weakest boy as a class monitor, and decided to make him a success. In the process, we discovered that it is possible to discipline ourselves, without any rule-enforcement. That boy, being basically timid, but also quite intelligent, was found to be more reasonable than our 'regular' monitor, who sometimes exceeded his powers due to his large size, imposing body structure, brute muscles, and lack of fear! That batch of students, that day, had a taste of real intrinsic meaning of 'empowerment'. It is not about making anybody needlessly over-powerful)
