Women Empowerment

When I had heard of this phrase for the first time, I had brushed aside any further keenness to look at its concept. I felt that this is the concern of politicians, administrators, and the likes, and I as an individual have nothing to do with even understanding the concept.

The next time, when it caught my attention was when the legislators could not arrive at a “consensus” about it for too long a time. The topic was discussed too often in the prominent spaces of newspapers. Time to resolve that itch to know what it is all about, before wrapping it up, I thought.

In the meanwhile, the spiritual practices had started revealing the finer aspects of what a human mind consists of, in terms of gender differences, the masculinity, and the graceful femininity. Suddenly it seemed too simple to deal with that ‘empowerment’ at individual level. This involvement ‘as an individual’, from my point of view, has nothing to do with the way those politicians have chosen to look at it. And yet, if somebody likes, this way of dealing with it could go a long way to foster better bonds and healthy relationships at family levels.

The awaited chance came when a question arose, and I scrambled for words to express the non-verbal ideas that had taken shape.

Since the answer found some appeal, I felt it may be ‘okay’ to share it with yet others.

What is women empowerment?
Some people are telling that women started ruling the world and no place for men... But some people are telling that still women didn't get freedom in this world...Which is true under your opinion??And what do you think women empowerment is???Are women downtrodden?? Or they rule??I'm in a big damn confusion that are people misusing women freedom or they use it in a right way...??Please people give me a solution to my confusion.....Just record what you think in your mind...

My reply:
In very simple terms, it is an appeal to everybody around(more importantly the women themselves!) to look at women with a little more of 'open mind'. That 'empowerment' is a sheer consequence. For example, when more women are literate, they can contribute in a unique way, by communicating and highlighting all those aspects that are exclusive to women folk. So, literacy empowers their intellect. Their opinion gets a hearing. When highly evolved intelligent among them get recognition, it is wonderful to be also 'ruled' by them!
But, the interpretation by leaders for their own vested interests (like vote bank politics etc), misleads youngsters, and then the apprehensions precede (quite naturally so), about women "taking over" and making men their slaves. This would never happen. Because, human species has traveled too far, to be able to reverse that natural biological phenomenon that is still prevailing in animals (Female lions, tigers, dogs, etc are more powerful ferocious than male ones!). Even among men, dictatorship like attitude is usually short-lived, though the damage done by such attitude is quite enormous. (At school, one day, we happened to learn a very significant lesson. We voluntarily 'empowered' the weakest boy as a class monitor, and decided to make him a success. In the process, we discovered that it is possible to discipline ourselves, without any rule-enforcement. That boy, being basically timid, but also quite intelligent, was found to be more reasonable than our 'regular' monitor, who sometimes exceeded his powers due to his large size, imposing body structure, brute muscles, and lack of fear! That batch of students, that day, had a taste of real intrinsic meaning of 'empowerment'. It is not about making anybody needlessly over-powerful)
