For what
(purpose)?
๐
Whether somebody is a philosopher or not, this question keeps occuring in our minds, aloud sometimes, and incessantly as a back-office-function.
We do try to seek answers, ……but compromise quite often with a mere response, which may not convince us as an “answer”๐
Right from kid age, this question keeps nagging us.
A kid has no “convincing” answer for questions like “for what, or why should I go to school, wear that “uniform”? .... “obey” what that fellow called”elder” dictates? Do that homework (just to make the “miss” happy?), while it does not matter to me personally/individually?
The kid “fails” to ask himself, “why/for what, should I PLAY?”( A few lazy kids simply ignore a chance to play, probably because those ‘elders’ find it more_suitable if the kid sits quite ๐( less supervisory_nuisance.).
Once that kid gets arrested in its mind, into a thought that, certain activities are just_there in the life, to be done without “asking” for_what/why of it. ( My “silly” question “why do humans_alone have to EARN for their food?”... doesn't reach the processor that assists the mind. Long ago, such questions are classified as ‘superfluous’. )
Purpose of “life”? ( Out of syllabus, long ago๐…. Whereas, “for what is a SYLLABUS, for every damn_thing?” helps us to keep away from “for what—about everything else, other than basic_survival needs.”( For those, who don't have to bother about basics, it is just_fun all their life, with risks according to the money/muscle power!)
After retirement, “what NOW?” surfaces only in a rare few๐( others have enough of unfulfilled desires, which bypassed the”what for?” ….very clandestinely!)
Emotions helps us to ‘get rid of’ the logical aspect of “what for” about our activities that we “choose” to do, without looking for answers.
Scope of “what for”? It varies according to the ability to perceive the “next level of WHAT_FOR?(purpose). Something like a better player in Chess, being able to think 2 moves ahead, for each_choice of his immediate move๐.
As a rare instance, the person called Shri Narendra Modi ( PM) recalled his_kid_age question “for whom do you LIVE?”( same question “what for”, looked_at, a bit more comprehensively๐). He “took this question toooo_seriously in his life๐. A “blanked out” phase of some 7 years in solitude ( as a spiritual seeker, under some Guru) occupies the chronology of his biography! His phase of life under the public glare( as a CM, then PM) evades even the best brains in politics and economics, about the_what_for of his actions which are highly unpredictable for all those around ๐.
At least, the “what for” of this blog might have occurred to a reader by now! ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Ancient Bharat gave more importance to “liberation” ( the ultimate one) than all the other possible answers to “what_for / why for?” questions ever_conceivable by a human mind ๐. Subtlest form of matter, only next_to_nothingness, therefore forms the purpose, for the pursuit of liberation from “what for?” The spirit that animates as life, within us๐. Spirituality deals with the spirit. The whole ‘edifice’ leading towards the super-structure called “ultimate wisdom”( enlightenment) therefore, decisively answers the “what for” of life ๐
Ever for you,
