Disengage the mind
π€£
Funny title, I concede…
And, an effort in vain, when we want to do it.
When we didn't even wish, boredom disengages the mind π
I don't know, but I can wonder, if the BP patients might find their alarming numbers getting it slightly lower when they are under a grip of severe boredom π ( I am not blessed with high BP as yet, π₯…and therefore cannot experiment it by_myself without causing a needless_boredom on the readers reading thisπ)
I am neither blessed with boredom π, and it might be appropriate to call me a freak, on this_countπ
Now, you can guess why such freak blogs emit from me occassionally ππ
I underwent a guided meditation, in which one of the prescription is to CONSCIOUSLY create tension in just one part/limb of the body and then relax it π€£ . I thoroughly enjoyed this exercise π . My monkey_mind loved the processπ create_tension, when people around are taking tablets, capsules , pills, drugs, medicines ( dunno, why each are different!) etc, to avoid_tension π³
Monkey mindπ
I decided to try it at office, in the midst of hectic busy work, while trying to locate errors in a maze of numbers ( figure work), being a Bank_clerk! I was surprised. I didn't have to ‘tense’ my face!π³ I could ‘notice’ the neck muscles and the head about it already tensed! So, relaxing it was the only ‘needed action’ π. I relaxed my neck and head CONSCIOUSLY. ( My practice at the guided meditations came_handy, π…having done it a few hundred times!!! ).
The surprise was, the mind got disengaged from the stupid_needless_thought “I must locate the error!”..... That's what I am doing,! Why then chant it like “I must find it, I must locate it”???? Now, my mind is better focused at ‘looking' for it.
It worked π
I could locate( what I was looking for) a bit easier, maybe a little earlier too… but, for sure, I needed to spend lesser CALORIES π€£.
Monkeys are fuel_efficient π³
Any time ( at a zoo or elsewhere) I could observe, monkeys sit utterly relaxed. Their fingers and wrist just hang, unlike us who hold it stiff, all_the_time! We step on the accelerator and the brake simultaneously π, quite unawares. More fuel is required to move. Monkey mind, I think I needn't feel embarrassed to concede. I relax, the next moment, I finish a muscular movement at any physical task. Only the ‘thought' needed a break, stepping onto ‘brake’ pedal, so that the fuel of my calories isn't getting wastedπ
I don't know if it can work for others ( readers). But if it works, psychiatrists, pharma guys get a reason to curse_me π€£. Illegitimate curses don't work on meππ. And for my age now, physical assaults don't matter muchπ
Try?
Whenever, we get a space of 3 seconds….
First second, focus on any part of our body ( facial muscles is the easiest, with eyes closed till we count 3)
Second second…. relax the part( face) CONSCIOUSLY
Third second: forget the whole thing π ( I know, this may sound ridiculously simple, but remember some wise guy's proverb : Simple isn't always easyπ).
Nothing to lose, except a little blood pressure π
Gains? Your most priceless gadgets, our own dear body, gets a bit of love & care, it had always deserved π
Stupidly yours,
psn(24 Jan, 2026)
Postscript: once we get used to disengaging the mind, we are armed with a power to get rid of garbage in our mind isn't it? ( Less luggage, more comfort — railways wrote itπ)

Simple is always natural otherwise it’s not simple in any way. Effort at being simple is not being simple.
You are right, when some work related stress is there then recalling it repeatedly doesn’t help in doing the work. Just do the work.
Boredom is something, I don’t experience any more.
