Ignorance alike, in qualified and unqualified

Ignorance alike, in qualified and unqualified

A joke πŸ™

If I can be allowed to trust my father, this joke is a true incident around 1936 to 1940 (temple entry proclamation by a ruler in Kerala,... Google search can give details).

At a temple near our ancestral village house, a crowd gathered to enter the temple for the first time in their life πŸ™ (a very progressive development, undoubtedly πŸ‘)

One fellow, young and strong, stormed into the temple and headed straight towards the tiny sanctum sanctorum (garbhagruha), to ‘see’ what it looks_likeπŸ˜‚.

He saw a tiny room, zero ventilation or light. A small lamp in front of the idol of the deity πŸ‘.  ( Even today, most temples do not have electric lighting in the garbhagruha πŸ™. There are highly sophisticated spiritual reasons for that, scientifically also, but not relevant here ).

Suddenly he saw a hand ( just the forearm & its palm) appearing before the deity and doing some strange gestures😳. It repeated in quick succession! He got scared, and ran out….because he construed it to be some magic/witchcraft “happening” inside without any human presence 😳. That was ‘his inferrence’ of what he ‘saw’. He reported it to the crowd eagerly waiting to ‘know' how a temple looks like inside it.

( Tantrik rituals involve a lot many gestures, and an onlooker familiar with it knows that ‘it looks like this’...  Even he doesn't know the “why” of it.).

Whereas, while using a mobile handset, we don't try to “gain” entry of standing right_under a mobile Tower πŸ™. All we “look” for is the icon on the handset which displays the level of connectivity πŸ™.  If its a very old and basic handset, it can “sense” a tower only within a shorter radius compared to a “costly” latest smartphone which can sense even in a closed room far away from the tower_location.

Only when it comes to “making USE of a temple” the present day minds depend too heavily on beliefs( a belief is anyway only_blind😜). Even the priest today, would hesitate to openly admit the absence of any subtle experience of the consecrated energy from that deity/idol .

Now that the temple entry is quite unrestricted, the ‘next’ right to be demanded is to officiate as a priest. Absolutely valid to demand, when the traditional guy is alike, as far as absence of experience is concerned 😜.

There have always been a few people during the entire history till today ( and will be there in future too) who have the receptivity to “sense” any consecrated place, thing or even a living human who radiates that sacred energy/vibes/whatever πŸ™. For very valid reasons these few will not speak, simply because, known tools of communication available today are inadequate for conveying their experience πŸ™

( I too, out of genuine curiosity and wonder, traveled a lot for few years until 1983, to find out the subtle worth of ancient temples. My reach was only within 2 large states of MP and MH. Desolate and dilapidated temples in ruins, plundered by moghul invaders, suited me the_most, for its quietude and isolation πŸ™. I can focus better + longer , within me😜. Because if something has to make even the slightest flutter, its experience can only be ‘inside’ me 😜. My experience is just mine. It can only be of a ‘story' value to a reader hereπŸ™πŸ˜”)

Vibrantly yours,
